Who could possibly believe that beings as anatomically close to us, with brains our size, just sat around in caves caring for retarded children and making tools without learning how to ride a horse, farm, write and build cities for 450,000 years – 45 times longer than recorded history?

Good point. "Lucy" has some splainin' to do.

Show me how to build a watch with stone tools

without learning how to ride a horse

Horse riding comes only after animal domestication which, in turn, comes only after a stable population has shelter and enough to eat. Early man spent all his waking time hunting for food to drag back to his cave.

farm,

See above. In addition, farming requires a protected piece of land suitable for cultivation, a division of labor within the group, sophisticated tools (including animal domestication), irrigation, etc. Give me a break./

write and build cities

Writing was invented by modern man, again, only after sedentary living, a food surplus, a standing army, and many other things had come first.

The main problem with this sort of anti-science illogic is the same as the invention of the laughably misnamed "feminist anthroplogy" and "social justice studies." Can evolution theory and belief that G-d created man coexist? Of course.
