So who were all these that continuously polled in the affirmative for old bj during his terms.

They obviously were not the protestants, CNN didn't claim those numbers, those are how those groups voted in the 1996 election.

Protestants were the most anti-Clinton group.

We unfortunately have "some" who want the term "Evangelical" to be restricted to the Pentecostals ~

Even within the so called 'Protestant' denominations there is no consensus to whom the word 'Evangelical' applies. And there is even varying degrees to which they disagree on denominations and doctrine. So if a disagreement arises then a new 'denomination' is opened.

My surprise when I actually started paying attention to the politics of different denominations was how closely so many adhere to the image of Bama's community activism as being 'Jesus' like. And that cuts across all denominations. And these that are first democrat voters would never accept there is any conflict in their religious doctrine and liberalism.

So what happened to Bob Dole? The active church going Protestants and Catholics that I personally know voted for the Clintons. And as diverse as their religious doctrines are they held one common belief that democrats care about and for the poor. And because of that 'caring' for the common person democrats are more like the Jesus they are taught in church.

Conservatives/republicans went to sleep on their watch, and allowed the image of themselves to be painted by the moderate all knowing and liberal Jon Stewart media mouths. Liberals did their homework and took full advantage of painting the 'compassionate' conservatives as hypocrites and fronts for 'evil' rich.

Now something has to have been going on in these churches to have so many completely ignorant voters regarding the virtues of capitalism versus the bondage of communism, else we would not be where we are this day.

And that is that we love the applause of men more than we love the work of God and the gospel.

St Paul said Christians will always be out of step with the world until every knee is bent...Bonhoeffer said Christians will always be a small, persecuted minority, if they are true to their discipleship.

Warren does good works but from what I've seen, anyone from a Christian to a "good atheist" could do what he does. He seems genuinely confused by these worldly things.

I don't know about the people that you met in your daily life, I don't even know where you lived during the Clinton years, but I do know that Protestants voted for Dole and Catholics voted for Clinton.

warren is no Billy Graham and I don’t even know that much about Graham other than he stood for the core christian tenets

Billy Graham Crusades filled Yankee stadium and its equivalents for decades. Not exactly a spiffy megachurch with coffee shops and such, but millions heard the gospel truly preached. I remember as a child fifty years or more ago watching Billy Graham on TV and the thousands who responded to his call in great crowds.

Emblematic: Billy Graham has been determined that the name "Billy Graham" would not outlive him as a brand name for his Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He thought it would be unseemly self-aggrandizement and distract from the focus on the Word of the Lord.

Rick Warren may be a good enough guy, but he doesn't belong in the same league.

Rather engaging performance. Couldn't make out the words. What does it have to do with worship of the Lord?

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
Galatians 1:6-8

Sounds to me like Paul was talking about Warren and the other prosperity preachers.

The supposedly “faux-christian” Mormon Church has shown far more spine, consistency, and willingness to take heat in standing up for what’s right than this nationally prominent Christian evangelist leader.

I was very happy when my mother told me after he died that my father had answered the call at a Billy Graham revival in the 1940s. If you knew the situation you would marvel at that too.

Wiki says that by 1993 2.5 million people had come up front, I’m not aware of another mortal man doing such good work in his life.

Rick had better spend some time on his knees, and get his thinking straightened out. No one that can read the Bible should have any doubts about how God feels about same sex marriages and abortions. People who try to please everyone wind up pleasing no one.

I saw both videos, the one of him strongly, eloquently and clearly endorsing prop 8 and then the Larry King one where he says that he didn’t do any of it.

This is one of the worst, most devastating lies that I have seen a public figure make on video, I just hope that this slaps him down to his followers like Hugh Hewitt, who was protecting him yesterday.

The Word of God warns me about teachers like Warren, therefore, I avoid them at all costs. As imperfect as I am, I am forgiven because of Christ's sacrifice for me. I want to please God, so I try to avoid even the appearance of evil, and RW by backtracking and hem-hawing on the God-given Biblical definition of marriage shows he is walking a different path.

For the sake of people who look to him for spiritual guidance, I pray he changes his course.

The first I saw of this guy was when he hosted the interview with the 2 presidential candidates. My reaction was ‘I wouldn’t buy a used car from this guy.’

Me too.

I'm sure McCain and Barry's campaign staff knew RW is a PINO (pastor in name only), or they wouldn't have allowed the interview.

This is the first time I've ever seen him or heard him. He was on Huckabee
and seemed to have a clear message. I'll read more about him.

And BTW,
If you didn't hear him on Fox then don't come here and challenge me.
I have no idea who the "F" he is to anyone.
