Wasn't he asking the federal government to deploy the national guard on the Texas-Mexico border? Isn't it his job to deploy the Texas national guard in his state?

Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

"Wasn't he asking the federal government to deploy the national guard on the Texas-Mexico border? Isn't it his job to deploy the Texas national guard in his state?"It is, but one has to have balls for that. From what I hear, that's not Perry's strongest characteristic.
This may fall under the heading "Political Self-Preservation." Even Dianne Feinstein can tell which way the wind is blowing.
