What’s next, I wonder. Demonstrations on the finer points of chopping cotton? These people are an embarrassment.

These people are, against all odds, making Carter look good by comparison. I remember, not fondly, the bean and weenie roasts on the White House lawn, along with little Amy’s tree house. I absolutely hated living in DC during the Carter occupation.

The part related to Carter I loved best? When Nancy Reagan, shortly after the Inauguration and banishment of Peanut Boy, turned Amy’s bedroom into a walk-in closet.

What is your problem? There’s a lot to complain about the Obama’s but planting a vegetable garden???????

When I grew up in the suburbs of NY in the 1970s, 90% of our neighbors grew their own vegetables. Now when I go back to visit my parents, I don’t see any gardens at all. How could Americans have become so lazy in one generation?

I applaud Michelle for setting this example.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. This photo op just feeds into historical racial stereotypes. Blacks tending the fields. Making the President’s wife do the dirty work, because she is black. Not a good picture.

Why does the first black family have to be the ones who are the first to show undignified photos of the first lady? Are they going to show her scrubbing toilets too? Geez!
