Krauthammer Tells Us What the Media Ignored or Avoided About Obama's European Adventure
NewsBusters ^ | April 10, 2009 | Tom Blumer

Posted on 04/11/2009 5:46:24 AM PDT by Zakeet

As was usually the case during Bill Clinton's presidency, the ascendancy of Dear Leader Barack Obama means that we will often have to consult the output of center-right commentators, and of course the Media Research Center and its affiliates, to cut through the establishment media's puffery to pick up even the most basic pieces of news.

Charles Krauthammer's column today in the Washington Post on the results of Obama's just-completed European Adventure is one such raw news source.

I have bolded items in the excerpt below that represent news that was either not reported or vastly under-reported by what's left of the establishement media (there are even more examples at Krauthammer's full column):

In his major foreign policy address in Prague committing the United States to a world without nuclear weapons, President Obama took note of North Korea's missile launch just hours earlier and then grandiloquently proclaimed:

"Rules must be binding. Violations must be punished. Words must mean something. The world must stand together to prevent the spread of these weapons. Now is the time for a strong international response."

A more fatuous presidential call to arms is hard to conceive. What "strong international response" did Obama muster to North Korea's brazen defiance of a Chapter 7 --"binding," as it were -- U.N. resolution prohibiting such a launch?

The obligatory emergency Security Council session produced nothing. No sanctions. No resolution. Not even a statement. China and Russia professed to find no violation whatsoever. They would not even permit a U.N. statement that dared express "concern," let alone condemnation.

Having thus bravely rallied the international community and summoned the U.N. -- a fiction and a farce, respectively -- what was Obama's further response? The very next day, his defense secretary announced drastic cuts in missile defense, including halting further deployment of Alaska-based interceptors designed precisely to shoot down North Korean ICBMs. Such is the "realism" Obama promised to restore to U.S. foreign policy.

..... He wanted more NATO combat troops in Afghanistan to match the surge of 17,000 Americans. He was rudely rebuffed.

He wanted more stimulus spending from Europe. He got nothing.

From Russia, he got no help on Iran. From China, he got the blocking of any action on North Korea.

And what did he get for Guantanamo? France, pop. 64 million, will take one prisoner. One!

The bolded items have generally been reported in at best vague terms, if at all, while the media horde has almost unanimously declared Obama's European Adventure an unqualified success. The reality is quite the opposite -- The specifics Krauthammer notes make it clear that President 'Prompter is courting danger (Obama may not think so, but history says he is) and failing to defend our interests, up to and including survival as a nation.

Although Rush is right when he points out that his popularity has generally climbed regardless of who is in office, there's little doubt that center-right talk radio is also helping to fill in the information void the establishment media is creating, seemingly deliberately, around Dear Leader. There are also of course the center-right blogs that are around now to pick up the slack.

We shouldn't have to work so hard just to get the basics, but like it or not, it's the reality.

This idiot wouldn't stay in power for 10 days if the fawning libtard MSM were not continuously covering up his pitiful incompetence.

While sowing subservience to the Saudi King, North Korea launches it's missile and Iran declares it now has 2000 centrifuges to process nuclear material. Obama reaction, we will engage in talking. This man isn't even up to Jimmuhy Carter's level of incompetence!

You Think things will change after he has 100 days?

Watch this mans actions rather than listen to his words.

He is acting against the interest of the United States.

I thought Iran declared 7,000 centrifuges.

Not much difference and you have to take what they say with a grain of salt, but I thought that was what was reported.

China and Russia professed to find no violation whatsoever.

So glad they were given such exalted positions in the UN.

Seems to me O-bomb-us did a great job in europe fulfilling and strengthing the goals to which he adheres.

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.

Charles Krauthammer is a man of profound wisdom and eloquence. When he spoke on Fox News a few nights ago of Obama’s “disgrace” of apologizing for his own country and openly attacking former Pres. Bush on foreign grounds, his comments carry weight. It is amazing how just a few strong voices, with his being among the strongest, expose the Obama fraud for what it is.

We are seeing not only the expansion of Fox News with people like Krauthammer, Beck, BOR, Hannity, Rove and others simply telling the truth, the collapse of the old mainstream media is rapid and ultimately irreversible.

Rush made some very strong points in his CPAC speech about philosophy, ideology being even bigger than individual issues in times like these. The mainstream press is ideologically incapable of facing their own fraud and are terrified of the truth. Their investment in Obama is their ultimate downfall.

Krauthammer, Rush, and the few strong voices facing down the fraud are ultimately Obama’s downfall. This is Atlas Shrugged playing out right before our eyes.

You have nailed it...Obama’s actions are what we need to keep in mind...in one week he has bowed to an islamic king, declared to a muslim audience that America is not a Christian Nation, and allowed four terrorists in a row boat to hold the US to a standoff that is getting international attention of the ‘courage of the terrorists in standing up against the US successfully’ illusion. From those three events tens of thousands were doomed to die in the near future as Obama has emboldened out enemies and given them new hope that they can defeat us. There it treachery from within the US and it is the President of our nation who is perpetrating this treason.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Great Leader is going to do something so egregious that he'll end his own political career.
It's not so much prognosticating as it is determining an outcome based upon already established examples and personality.
