Somali tribal elders are going to help mediate for the release of a US ship captain. Captain Richard Phillips is being held hostage by pirates in Somali waters in the Gulf of Aden. The tribal elders want the captain released, but are not willing to negotiate a ransom. The Pentagon is reluctant to intervene for fear of the captain's life.
The pirates say they want to bring the man to another hijacked ship and are threatening a bloodbath if they are prevented from doing so. Other pirates holding 24 hostages on a German ship have given up attempts to help their fellow hostage takers.
On Friday, three people were killed when French commandos stormed a hijacked yacht. One of the dead was a hostage.

This is ridiculous. Send in the Seals, and that little liferaft they’re on will magically spring a leak. Problem solved.

Set the raft ablaze. In the act of self preservation, everyone will jump off. Rescue Phillips and let the others drown.
Fire is a good way making people forget others and think of themselves. The hijackers aren’t afraid of bullets. Fire on the other hand is a great equalizer and has a psychological effect.
Maybe if he bowed and showed proper respect they would realize we are actually very nice, hug and make up.
Obama can’t even handle a rag tag bunch of Somalia pirates. He refuses to take any decisive action, and won’t even talk about the incident with the press, since he feels the housing issue is more important than American lives.
Obama is presenting a weak, timid, America to the rest of the world. How on earth, is he going to handle a real disaster, when the big boys, Russia, North Korea, China, throw something at him?
He is telling the rest of the world, “Just walk all over America and its people, you know I’m not going to do anything about it. “ Except apologize!
This man, dare I call him a man, is a spineless, sniveling, pretender to the office of POTUS. An utter disgrace to every American, and to this wonderful country he is ruining day by day.
And, don’t get me started on his bowing to Saudi royalty!
That is where I stopped reading. The only thing possible to "mediate" is how much money changes hands and how do these scum (apologies to decent law abiding scum) get to go free.

Agree completely. I would expect a small team of SEALs could take that boat in under a minute; too bad they weren’t already in the water when the captain attempted to escape yesterday... the “pirates” would have been fish food and this idiocy would be over. With each passing day the Socialist-loving Pansy in Chief allows this situation to continue, the more emboldened our enemies will become.

It would appear that the elders have been made an offer they dare not refuse. Get the captain released or one morning you might not wake up. Do you prefer the lives of your towns people or the lives of the pirates?
In the meantime, Barack sits around with his thumb up his rear while a bunch of Samali monkeys run around blackmailing cargo ship owners.
