Have you tried talking to a priest?
We tired to before we got married but it just seemed like he Preist wasn’t interested nor had to time so Dh got fed up and we just got married anyway. That was 23 years ago.
I guess I should also add that I only wetn through first communion and never finished catechism, so I’m not sure what my status is but I do consider myself Catholic
