Oh, the irony. The people running Greenwood nowadays are the folks who were denied their right to protest Jim Crow laws by those 1963 ordinances.

Greenwood is SirKit's hometown, and in 1963, it was the all white Citizens Council that, for the most part, ran the town. My how things have changed, but have stayed the same. Say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss.

Both Greenwood and Leflore County are nearly 70% black and the vote for Obama was almost precisely along racial lines.

The Delta is now politically owned by blacks and one can go to Greenville and see for themselves the wonder of those results.

Does anyone wonder why whites in counties they were minorities in back in the 50s were scared of giving up power. Rightly or wrongly.

What they feared has happened and bear in mind there was none of the thuggery and hostility back in the 50s like today in the black community.

I was there...I lived it.

Greenville has lost like a quarter of it’s population.
