President Obama’s Health Secretary Nominee Sebelius Hides Abortion Link in Senate Answers

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- President Barack Obama’s nominee for Health Secretary is coming under criticism for apparently deceiving members of a Senate committee about her close relationship with an abortion practitioner. Sebelius received nearly three times more money from late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller than she disclosed.

Yesterday, the Senate Finance Committee published written answers Sebelius submitted during her examination for confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

In response to a question from pro-life Sen. Jon Kyl, an Arizona Republican, Sebelius stated that she received $12,450 from Tiller during her campaign for Insurance Commissioner.

However, contribution and expenditure reports on file with the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission show the figure to be closer to $38,450 -- a discrepancy of $26,000. Records also show that some of that money was used for her 2002 campaign for governor.

Sebelius also told the committee in the written answers about the 2007 party she threw at the governor’s mansion for Tiller and his abortion center staff. She stated that in 2006, she donated a reception at the mansion to a "non-profit" group, the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus, for their annual fundraiser.

Yet, the group is a political action committee and its records on file with the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission show no purchase or contribution of any kind by Tiller or anyone related to him in 2006.

Sebelius claims that the cost of the Tiller dinner was reimbursed to the state. However, the pro-life group Operation Rescue provided LifeNews.com with copies of receipts that show the dinner was paid for by taxpayers.

"The records prove that Sebelius' story about the Tiller dinner being an auction prize is manufactured out of whole cloth. There is not one shred of evidence to back it up,” OR president Troy Newman told LifeNews.com. “Sebelius' continued unwillingness to tell the truth about her relationship with Tiller, in spite of the evidence, shows that from an ethical standpoint alone, she is not fit to serve.”

"If she will lie to the U.S. Senate and the American people about this, she simply cannot be trusted,” he continued.

HHS spokesman Nick Papas told the Associated Press on Monday that the mistake on the written response concerning the political donations was “an oversight.”

"There was an oversight in the initial answer provided to the committee," HHS spokesman he said. "Obviously donations to the PAC are a matter of public record. The governor is updating the answer to this question and will resubmit it to the committee."

This is the second time Sebelius has had to change financial information for the Senate committee, the first coming when she was forced to pay more than $7,000 in back taxes she owed to fix improper tax deductions.

Looking further at the written questionnaire, Kyl asked Sebelius, “Can you describe your relationship with Mr. Tiller? Has he ever contributed to your campaign or has your PAC ever received money from Mr. Tiller or a PAC related to Mr. Tiller?"

Sebelius responded, “I have been familiar with Dr. Tiller for many years because he lives and works in Kansas. Dr. Tiller, like many Kansans, contributed to my campaign for insurance commissioner.”

The Senate is currently on its Easter recess and the committee is expected to approve Sebelius’ nomination and send it to the full Senate for a debate and vote after it returns.

However, Tiller the Killer is not just a Kansan, he is the most vile abortionist in the world.

This was not an ‘oversight’...it was a lie under oath. She stated that he contributed to her campaign for insurance commissioner. Fini, thats it, no more Tiller money....but he did contribute to her campaign for governor. His clinic also donated to her campaign for governor.

The party at the governor’s mansion was a way for Tiller to donate directly to some women’s group (which could have seperately donated to Sebelius). The ‘donation’ was supposed to be a ‘contest’, with the winner getting a party with the governor. There was yet another ‘oversight’, when the women’s group didn’t pay for the party, and us Kansas taxpayers footed the bill...until photos from the affair were made public.

Oh...the photos...Kathleen and Tiller holding up a t-shirt that said ‘Trifecta’. The trifecta was Kathleen’s successful re-election, the successful election of the Lt Governor (gop turned dummy turncoat Parkinson), and Paul Morrison. Who is Paul Morrison? Another GOP turncoat, funded by Tiller, who was elected Attorney General of Kansas...specifically to obstruct ongoing investigations into criminal activity by Tiller. Morrison lasted a year, long enough to do his job, before resigning in a sex scandal. But that’s the ‘Trifecta’ Kathleen was celebrating. In the wide open, we witnessed Tiller buy his way out of criminal prosecution, and she celebrated.

Anybody with half a brain knows that Tiller and Kathleen have been like peas and carrots. He helps her get elected, she helps him not get convicted. She would not be governor without him. He would not have his freedom without her. At best she is quibbling with the truth. More likely she is flat out lying. Neither is acceptable under oath.

I hope Senator Kyle revisits this, and asks her why she LIED to his face under oath.
