I realize I am in the minority here, but I would favor a high-speed railway system over so much dependence on air travel for short-distance travel (200-500 miles), the fact is that economically short-distance air flight is becoming economically unfeasible, as more airlines start going belly up, I think there is potential for high-speed rail to work.

Think about it, for a flight of about an hour duration, you have to arrive at the airport at least an hour in advance for security, then a good part of the duration of the flight is spent taxiing, and waiting for clearance, not an issue with high-speed rail.

Not only that, but one advantage of high-speed rail over airplanes, you can access the Internet and do your work while commuting, can’t exactly do that on a plane.

Think it over; Aircraft can go whever they have to go, while a train can only go where the track goes.

I vote for freedom, and safety, neither of which is available with trains.

“I realize I am in the minority here”

Not really, but these threads descend into manure patties real fast. Not much for discussion.
