"the commander of the Bainbridge and the captain of the Navy SEAL team determined they had operational authority"

Like a lot of others here, I suspected that they risked their careers to do the right thing.

Just as "No good deed goes unpunished" by the Democrats; I doubt that Obama will let something like this happen again.

He can't risk alienating his far-left, anti-war, nut-bag base.

Not surprised, there were immediately rumors that Obama hastily ordered the Navy not to hurt the poor dears.

However, I had assumed he decided to let them shoot the pirates when his pollsters told him he was within 36 hours of becoming a national laughingstock, and that the t-shirts mocking him were about to hit the streets.

“Pirates for Obama!” “Arrrrrr!” I wanted the one showing him with an eyepatch...

I think it was revealing that no brasshats in AFRICOM or Fleet command descended on the scene to take charge and that the Bainbridge’s captain was stuck holding the bag for the duration.

They did no such thing.

Yes, it was pure coincidence that Captain Phillip's life "was in imminent danger" the very moment that all three pirate heads were exposed to SEAL snipers at the same time.

That's the story. They're stickin' to it. That's what happened. Really. This is a "no sh!tter".
