According to the fundraising letter I got from Jim and Sarah Brady, criminals, terrorists, and insane people buy their guns from gunshows, usually from gun-nuts who love to flood the criminal market with fully automatic machine guns with not questions asked.

Yes, no parking lots within 300 yards of a school.

That'd do some good for the blubbery little darlings.

Profile of straw buyers is mostly women with drug abuse problems, but have not been arrested for it (thus no criminal record yet). Felony finds out she has no criminal record, becomes her boy friend, gives her drugs, then uses the relationship and drug angle to convince her to buy a gun for him in return for relationship, money and/or drugs. The Columbine teens got a gun thru a girl who needed money for drugs and still had a clean reocrd. She got off lightly because she convinced the anti gunners she would become a spokeperson against guns.

...a nine-time felon on federal probation.

It is sad to think that, were it not for you 2nd Amendment gun nuts, this guy wouldn't have shot this police officer...

This just goes to show how badly we need to close the “gun-show loophole”! Oh, wait...

conveyed to firearm to a convicted felon

That's an automatic felony in itself in my state, even if it was your own gun you gave to a felon family member.

He should be charged like the BATF going after an FFL license holder.

Sorry, the Constitution forbids cruel and unusual punishment.

“If your girlfriend is buying a hi-point out of a car trunk..

Heck, the way things are trending I'd probably tell her "good job!".

Then we'd have a talk about quality firearms.

The poor guy was caught in the "cycle of violence". You know, the cycle where he commits a voilent felony, goes to prison for a short time, gets out and commits another felony, goes to prison for a short time, gets out... ad naseum.

The court system can't possibly be the problem - it's the gun.

What if the gun was homemade in a basement machine shop?

Boyfriend was a nine-time loser out on pro and now she’s a felon too. No cure for stupid. Looks like we can’t even lock it up.

The article stated it was a 9mm Hi-Point. Regardless of the origin or manufacturer, it is a felony to convey a firearm to a convicted felon. That's one of the hazards of making a private sale of a firearm to an unknown buyer. You run the risk of becoming a felon by virtue of selling to a felon. Ignorance is no excuse.

Pay attention. We should ban basements and machine shops.

This particular infringement is just fine and dandy, until the almighty government decides it is a felony to disagree with the Party. (But, everyone knows that could never happen here.)
