Funny how when the GOP wanted to do redistricting to benefit itself, it was called “evil” and “racist.”
The Sentinel whining yet again that the Republicans have had the legislature for 10 years while the Democrats had it the other 144.
Funny that they say that new districts should be drawn in such a way so as to not ‘disfavor’ a minority.
The biggest reason the districts are the way the are was to make sure minorities got into the legislature.
Freaking hacks.

Hmmmm..
thanks to everyone for freeping!
the slantinel is a ridiculous rag. the only reason I have everyone voting is because I’m a member of the local reaganclub.us and they keep an eye on this stuff.
This is not a democrat or republican problem. District lines are gerrymandered to the point of meaninglessness, all over the country.
I propose that no district lines can cross municipal lines. Therefore, a larger municipality can be divided into smaller districts, and several smaller municipalities could be grouped into one larger district as necessary, but it should be illegal to cross county or city lines. If that results in a slight imbalance in numbers, so be it. Geographical continuity should matter more than demographics.
