Primarying John McCain: A stupendously bad idea [Chris Simcox running for seat] (Barf Alert)
The Flint Township/Swartz Creek Advance ^ | April 21, 2009 | Susan J. Demas

It used to just be Democrats who had no use for their losers (see Carter, Jimmy), but evidently some Republicans like that idea, too. Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, is challenging John McCain in the GOP Senate primary next year.

Not that this is particularly surprising. The Arizona GOP didn't even back McCain in the GOP presidential primary last year.

While McCain certainly has an appeal to moderates and independents like me, working across the aisle on immigration and campaign finance reform, he is a conservative. He's been a vocal critic of President Obama on the economy (calling his budget a "threat to the nation") and even lashed out about a Department of Homeland Security report tracking right-wing extremism. But that doesn't appear to be good enough for some people.

There is a reason why Democrats cheer each time a conservative Republican knocks out the more moderate candidate in the primary. It makes it that much easier for them to win the seat.

I think that Chris Simcox could win McCain’s seat. That would be awesome! We need people who are tough on immigration.

The libs’ responses on Politico about this are funny, so hysterical. Suddenly they love McCain again. Their response is why I KNOW it would be the right thing to do to challenge McCain.

The question is whether Simcox can win the Senate seat in Arizona. I hope so, but am not that optimistic - with the growing Hispanic population in Arizona.

Sounds like the “marginalization” of Chris Simcox is already beginning.

There is an anti-American/pro-illegal alien element in both media...liberal and non-liberal....and they will trash Simcox to support McCain.

Nothing would be better than to see McCain ousted by a pro-American GOP candidate.

Even with the growing Hispanic population in Arizona....one thing that will help Simcox is that Hispanics do not have great voter turnout....the pct of Hispanics voting compared to the number of Hispanics eligible to vote is quite low.

Simcox wins the GOP nom....and he should win the Senate seat. He will bring many real conservatives to the polls...those who are pro-American/anti-illegal

From the Campaign whose slogan was “fight with me” to now throwing Conservative Christians overboard for supporting Traditional Marriage, the McCain operation is politically dead.

McCain will win a primary against Simcox 75/25.

He will take the general with around 60 to 65%.

I doubt Simcox will win this, but I am glad somebody is challenging McCain.

Wow! The MSM attacks on Chris have started already! The MSM is scared, but they will never honestly say so. I’m seriously more concerned about if Chris will eventually have company among one or more truly conservative candidates on the GOP side, because being able to successfully defeat a former candidate for POTUS makes a decent political resume. I’m also seriously concerned about the ongoing problem of too many conservatives running for a particular political office at the same time and how this ends up helping RINOs win during almost all of the GOP primaries that this situation occurs. This repeating pattern of conservative candidates diluting the total conservative votes to the point where the RINOs end up winning the GOP primary has got to seriously and finally stop, if conservatism is ever going to make any kind of successful political comeback at some point in the future throughout the U.S.!

“Simcox wins the GOP nom....and he should win the Senate seat. He will bring many real conservatives to the polls...those who are pro-American/anti-illegal..”

That's what we thought when we nominated Randy Graf down here in my congressional district. He beat the Rino establishment candidate in the primary in 2006. The national GOP pulled out and let the feminazi ditz, Gabrielle Giffords win in a majority Republican district. She's still in there. Last time they nominated a Rino and got whomped.

I laugh when people here tell me to contact my congressman, or “congress critter” as the gender neutral people say.
