Police are investigating whether a man arrested in an ambush killing in a west Oak Cliff parking lot Monday morning came to Dallas from Mexico to commit the crime.
Jose Rangel Arrez, 34, was being held Tuesday night at the Dallas County Jail on a murder charge in the killing of 37-year-old Antonio Aviles-Sanchez. Police say Arrez is a Mexican citizen and had been in the state for just a few days.
"He's in Texas less than a week and involved in an ambush-type shooting," said homicide Sgt. Bruce McDonald. "For him to come in this short period of time and be involved in this type of a shooting, it just looks like he may have been brought in for that reason."

He’s from Mexico....The place dealt in drugs.....the victims dealt in drugs....Go figure...
Maybe he just has a really short temper.
why are they wasting tax payer dollars on this one? Oak Cliff is a pit of despair anyway.
This is just one of the many incidents that are showing up here in Texas. Just wait till we start showing the body count that is all too normal at the border cities.
He’s in the wrong state to commit murder. He’s toast there quicker than any other state. And they dont bow to Mexican demands about the death penalty. Flip that switch Texas, send him on his way.
My husband said the same thing last night about wasting tax payer money on this..... at this point I think if a gangsta is killed, the world is a better place and don't waste time finding the shooter, they seem to take care of their own.....unfortunately when they take care of their own innocent lives are taken....
Heads or Tails.
Hey bud, same thing happened in Houston about 3 weeks ago. The target was a illegal alien drug gang member who was wearing a Houston Astros jersey. Unfortunatly an innocent father wearing an Astros jersey got gunned down instead. This was a case of one Mexican gang targeting another Mexican gang operating here in the US. Story was reported once then dropped. This kind of thing is going on in all the large Texas cities. The Mexicans are fighting over drug turf. Most dangerous thing for a young hispanic male to do is wear an Astros jersey. One of the larger gangs here calls them self “Houstong”. They tattoo themselves with the astros star. I used to live in Houston, but when we started having kids, we moved to an outlying county. There are parts of town that are run by these Mexican gangs and I don’t see anything being done about it for a long time.
Lock him up and throw away the key for sure.... better yet, fry his butt...
These people debate whether or not drug violence is here. Doesn’t matter if it’s from Mexico or not. It’s been here...for a while.
First guy I thought of also. ;-)
How’s the weather up there in Dallas
Warm. I turned the AC on......In celebration of Earth Day.
What business is it of yours
Zeta bump!
Well, I apologize for painting with too broad a brush; years ago I used to regularly visit some very dear friends who lived in Oak Cliff. They had purchased a beautiful, though delapidated two story “Salt Box” home which they were re-furbishing. Gentrification had set in in some of the neighborhoods, but alas, it appeared the bulk of the area was headed “south” (no pun intended). My “assumption” was apparently incorrect; I’d assumed that it had proceeded to decline in the usualy U.S. Urban fashion.
Have a good life while you’ve still got it.
If you are ever wanting some great food that does not involve a chain restaurant check out the restaurants in the Bishop Arts are....yummy....
It's not the apartments, it's the people that live there, generally either rent free or with highly subsidized rents. Put the same people in Low rise, one or two story apartments, and they'll act the same way. Put them out in decent neighborhoods, in subsidized housing, and they'll still act the same. I've lived in those sorts of apartment complexs, under a new deal where only a specified fraction of the units are subsidized, and in a neighborhood with lots of single family homes that were Section whatever houses. The people don't change much. And it's not all of them either, but a sufficiently large enough fraction to mess it up for the rest.
