Good point, and good catch. I should have said that the social programs designed for those who are able but refuse to work would/should stop. I doubt most tax payers have an issue supporting the elderly, sick, disabled, vets and even single parents.
Of course, we wouldn’t have access to the dwindling SS account, so I’m not sure how it would work out. I’m sure they’d find a way.
Teaching children to save instead of spend would help ensure that a program like SS would (by and large) not be needed in 1-2 generations.
It would be nice to have a do-over and try this whole experiment in individual freedom and limited government by starting all over again.
