It didn't take long for Barack Obama for all his youth and inexperience to get acclimated to his new role as the calming leader of a country in crisis.
"I feel surprisingly comfortable in the job," the nation's 44th president said a mere two weeks after taking the helm.
"The challenges are big," a sober Obama added, underscoring the foreign and domestic problems he inherited Jan. 20. "But one thing I'm absolutely convinced about is you want to be president when you've got big problems. If things are going too smoothly, then this is just another nice home office."
Over nearly 100 days as president, Obama has applied the same "no drama" leadership and calculated approach to governing that he did to campaigning.
As an audacious candidate, Obama meticulously built a powerhouse organization and fundraising juggernaut to engineer his victory. As a fledgling president, he similarly has mapped out a big-risk agenda that he's methodically begun to execute, keeping to the discipline that has been a hallmark of his life.
Rookie jitters? Far from it.
Confident almost to a fault, he could seem aloof, even arrogant at times in the campaign. He's kept that focused attitude in the White House, while exhibiting few flashes of any off-putting, self-important tone.
Perhaps that's because he's reached the pinnacle of his political ambition. Perhaps it's because anxious times of war and economic crisis demand a calm demeanor. Perhaps it's the sheer weight of the office and the urgent tasks.
Whatever the reason, Obama has seemed extraordinarily at ease as president from the day he took office after a campaign in which he made a once skeptical electorate comfortable with the notion that a black, 47-year-old, first-term senator with limited experience could take over as the leader of the free world.

Barry became presidential almost immediately.
I respectfully nominate this article for biggest load of the week.
Man, she must wear out a set of kneepads every couple of weeks...
“’I feel surprisingly comfortable in the job,’ the nation’s 44th president said a mere two weeks after taking the helm.”
And the “journalists” at AP are right to take him at his word. Not like there’s and counte-evidence. Only Obama’s mind knows how well Obama acclaimated himself.
Great Leader Is Great - APObama
Satire? Right, it’s satire?
Why wouldn’t he adapt? If you are already God, even the presidency of the United States is a bit of a letdown.
Geesh, I was eating my lunch.
Just the kind of hard hitting journalism we’ve come to expect from AP.
“Not like theres and counte-evidence” = Not like there’s any counter-evidence”
It was Obama’s kookery - not leadership - which augmented the stock market free-fall. Who could invest in huge segments of the economy, when cap/trade, autos, health care were up in the air? Only gamblers would wade in, real investors are on the sidelines still, sitting on cash.
OF course he is at ease, ha has the best gig in the world — get waited on hand and foot, get subservient genuflection hourly by the presstitutes, and all he has to do is do what his handlers order him to and say what the teleprompter tells him.
I didn’t read the whole article but what I read was sickening.
“Obama has applied the same “no drama” leadership and calculated approach to governing that he did to campaigning.”
SEE. Even AP admits obama is still acting like he is campaigning. (even though the word ‘no’ should be changed to ‘overt’)
The AP applies a little hagiography to one of their own. “Audacious,” “powerhouse,” “confident,” - I’m thinking Liz gets paid by the adjective. I have a few of my own but I doubt if the AP would print them.
what an asshol*
When I was a kid they showed us the propaganda that the old soviet union use to publish for the people.
I still remember being flabbergasted that people would be so stupid to think that the masses would believe such incredible lies, and that someone was actually paid to produce it.
Never would I have believed in my life I would read that same over-the-top *ss kissing here in the US by an AP writer towards a black activist communist President.
Gosh. The writer has convinced me. Obama is so talented and capable that the presidency of the United States is a mere walk in the park. He won’t be truly challenged until he’s the emperor of the known universe.
