Political Notebook: Will Palin side with McCain or Simcox?
The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson, Ariz. ^ | 2009-04-25 | Daniel Scarpinato

In his campaign kick-off for U.S. Senate against John McCain, Republican Chris Simcox admitted Wednesday that he cast a ballot for McCain in November for president.

So, Simcox thinks McCain was fit to lead the free world but not represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate?

“I had no choice,” Simcox explained of his vote. “Let’s say Sarah Palin was acceptable, and that's who I voted for.”

Which leads to an interesting question: Who will Gov. Palin support in this GOP primary?

Palin should stay out of it until the last minute.

Palin should milk both sides for money and promises.

:)

Palin will support McCain because simpleton is worse than a used car salesman.

We will now be treated to the spectacle of John McCain pleading with Sarah Palin to save his political life a second time.

The time will come for her to push McCain off the cliff. But not just yet.

Who says that she will take either side? What an artificial question. She will likely keep out of this. Anyay I don't think it can be expected for her to oppose the guy who was her running mate and brought her on the national stage. Despite the McCain's trashing her, she has too much class to make this look like petty revenge.

Of course the Palin detractors (we know who they are) think this is a great opportunity to embarrass Palin and her supporters because they know well that it's unlikely that she will oppose McCain.

Some food for thought to the Palin detractors: Simcox explained of his vote. “Let’s say Sarah Palin was acceptable, and that's who I voted for.”

She apparently was good enough for Simcox.

Palin’s personal ethics will never allow her to throw McCain under the bus, that’s not her style. But whatever her political ambitions, there’s no need for her to take sides in an Arizona senate primary.

The comments are hilarious:

This is like asking with this loser side with that loser or that other loser.

LOL! Paid the rent on your brain, "looser"?!!

Who cares?

Republicans - WAKE UP and smell your own party going down in flames because all "you" seem able to do is whine about Obama.

Don't like Obama? Then come up with something better.

Oh, don't you worry about that--we could run a 2x4 against the Kenyan and capture 1/3 of the vote!

By "better", I mean candidates who can actually read and actually DO read.

Until the repubs can do better than palin, joe the whatever, and this simcox character, and until they rid themselves of the ultra-nutjobs of the media, they really are only has-beens, wannabes and never will be's.

I would say that whoever Palin supports will lose the primary. And for that matter, who cares which candidate the Governor of Alaska supports? The last I knew we live in Arizona, not Alaska. If you love Alaska so much why don't you move there?

LOL! "Arizoner--luv it or leave it!"

The republican party is in serious trouble. YAY!

Palin scares the pants off the Democrat's. I hope she does run for higher office.

Sheesh, these two bit journalists really ARE simpletons, aren't they?

The choice was between McCain and O'bama - Simcox chose McCain.

The choice is now Simcox vs. McCain, and Simcox chooses..... Simcox!

Don't make me come down there and explain it again....

Exactly. I think the best thing for her would be too keep out of this. Opposing McCain will be (falsely) framed as petty revenge and backstabbing, while an endorsement would be fodder for the Palin detractors (Sanford and Romney guys).

Is Simcox the only alternative?
I don’t think he’d beat McCain, but if he shows decent poll numbers pehaps a conservative who would knock out McCain and then win the general election might challenge McCain in the primary.

As for Gov. Palin? Would like to hear more or less, her say that she has enough on her plate running Alaska to get involved in Arizona politics, but she wishes McCain luck, and would support whoever wins the primary.

Why enter into a fray where there is no winning answer ?

Sarah should say: "It would be unfair for a Governor to comment on an ongoing Senatorial campaign that has nothing to do with Alaska, so my answer is 'No Comment' and you can quote me on that"

Great Call! She really has no dog in the fight. Perhaps; just for the fun of it, she could let her staff leak some really trashy stuff about McCain and his support for 0bambi, just before the election.

She would look more powerful if she is BEGGED for her support!

And, if she ever even considers an endorsement of McCain, she should tell Juan to tell all of his jerk campaign staff to publicly apologize for trashing her, first!

"Palin should milk both sides for money and promises."

Promises from John McCain are no longer worth the bathroom tissue I just flushed down the toilet.

If Sarah was smart then she should stay out of this one and when asked she should say “No Comment”.
