How many people got up and left? That’s right, probably not a one. My fellow U.S. Citizens are perfectly comfortable to be a door mat.

Most of the audience should have stood up and said F U in unison, and then walked out. As a group they should have then sued the venue for a full refund.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Italian pianist and Italian Communist Party member, Maurizio Pollini used to read anti-Vietnam War screeds from the stage in the U.S. and got booed. He never stopped playing here though and still does.

From the article:

“About 30 or 40 people in the audience walked out, some shouting obscenities. “Yes,” he answered, “some people when they hear the word military start marching.”

Others remained but booed or yelled for him to shut up and play the piano. But many more cheered. Zimerman responded by saying that America has far finer things to export than the military, and he thanked those who support democracy.”
