DiFranco says the $8.2 figure is a very conservative estimate as he and his colleagues are dismissing some bogus claims of withholding donations It is always going to be worse than the estimates simply because many people don't complain when they stop giving.

Correct.
It's just like they say in retail -- for every customer who complains, you actually lose 5-10 who don't complain but just take their business elsewhere.
