About 10 years ago the Miami Herald made a huge mistake when they redesigned their newspaper. The Herald used to have a very distinctive look. If you looked at almost any page of the Herald from across a room, you knew right away it was from that newspaper. So they brought some guy in to redesign the paper and the result was they made the Herald look live every other newspaper in the country. A very boring font appearance.
I guess they thought that the paper's design was the reason for its circulation decline back then.

When it was a McClatchy paper, the Mpls Star tribune fudged its circulation numbers, then was sued by several advertisers.

...yeah?...well apparently South Florida isn’t committed to the Herald.

About 10 years ago I dropped my subscription to the Miami Herald. It wasn't because of any design change.
A lady called up and asked why? I told her I was tired of being lied to. There was a brief discussion following. I haven't missed it. We now get the WSJ.

Do you remember Tropic Magazine that came out on Sundays? When they got rid of it, I knew the end would not be behind.
