What about Card Check (Specter)?

Posted on 04/28/2009 10:05:05 AM PDT by teg_76

I just want to throw this out there. Has anybody heard if he's changing his position (again) on card check?

It appears that this depends on who the highest bidder is and what’s in Specter’s own personal best interest.

His statement says that he’s still opposed to card check.

Alren just came out of the closet. Sorry, it is an AP story quoted by our local fishwrap, so I can't post it.

Too soon to say.

Presumably he would not be announcing his party switch unless he has made a deal with the Democrats, which presumably includes certain obligations on his part as well as theirs.

But I should think it would depend partly on union views in Pennsylvania.

FWIW, this is from his statement:

“My change in party affiliation does not mean that I will be a party-line voter any more for the Democrats that I have been for the Republicans. Unlike Senator Jeffords’ switch, which changed party control, I will not be an automatic 60th vote for cloture. For example, my position on Employees Free Choice (card check) will not change.”

Now I see he is changing parties altogether. Since he is such a contrarian, if he’s a Democrat, maybe he’ll vote with the Republicans more often.

National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn released a letter today offering a full-throated endorsement of Sen. Arlen Specter in his coming primary against former congressman Pat Toomey,

The AFL-CIO has already offered Spector HUGE amounts of 2010 support if he votes for the end of Democratic elections by supporting EFCA.

And Spector will do whatever is best for Spector and his 2010 chances, and to hell with anything else. Highest bidder gets his vote, as we saw with the “non-stimulus Stimulus”.

I am sure he was counting on card check to offset the abominable stimulus crap.

The big O says he is “delighted” that Arlen Specter has come over to the dem side. I would think Specter will have no choice than to change his mind for the change.

How many years has it taken for his 'primary colors' (it is a title of a book) to get revealed. Hey this snake holds so called 'Bible' studies with some of his fellow travelers in the Senate.

Since Arlen has left the building, I no longer care what he does. He can quote Scottish law as his reason for casting a particular vote, he can vote with whatever party he chooses. Whatever. As a Pennsylvanian born and bred, all I can say is “Good bye Arlen! And, please, DO let the door hit you on the way out!”

Yes, the Democrats can trust him because he has ALWAYS been an undercover operative plant inside the Republican party since he switched parties years ago. Look for Specter to tow the party line like all the other left-wing moonbats. He has just become more valuable after all these years as a Democrat party member than a mole, since the Democrats are consolidating their power with Franken soon to be joining them as the # 60 Democrat vote in the Senate.

“A man’s done himself good when he’s rid himself of a terd” Edward I of England

Spector will have to come around to the Democrat view on card check. Remember, he has officialy ushered in a one party state. After getting some special union legislation, I’ll bet that the unions will target the health care industry above all others. Perfect, unionized, universal healthcare! Health insurance for all health care for none.
