I agree with you. Little kids don’t need this bs. I think the school shouldn’t decide when to teach about sex, gay or regular. I know way back when I had sex ed classes we just laughed quite a bit & made the teacher uncomfortable. That was in high school & most kids were well aware of sex by then. I do remember some stupid movie in 6th grade about periods. It was really dumb & we didn’t want to see it. The boys made fun of the girls for awhile, they knew what it was all about. I don’t like the idea of anyone telling Sassy about sex but her father or me. He is more or less going to let me handle it.

Our youngest, in 5th grade, is in Family Life now so it’s a daily topic. Same thing happened with the other 3. I don’t mind and it’s Catholic school so they’re teaching it in religion class, according to dogma/doctrine of the Catholic Church. But again, not really necessary as we talk about it at home. They used to have a film and more detailed sex ed in 7th grade but too many parents complained so they stopped it a couple years ago. Back when I was in school, we viewed the abortion movie. I wish I could find it to show my kids. It was horrific and shocking and heartbreaking as it showed abortion at various stages. It had a tremendous impact on me as a teen. Solidified my view on abortion back when I was 14.

Yeah, I do most of the icky stuff too with the kids but it’s great having his take on it, for them. Then again, I’m always telling him to cool it cos he’s all about how bad boys are and all they think about is sex.

The funniest thing was when the oldest had a boyfriend. I seriously thought he was gonna have a stroke and had to remind him how nice my Dad was to him. But of course that was different cos it was him.
