MPs vote by a majority of 21 to back a Liberal Democrat demand for all former Gurkhas to be allowed to settle in the UK
Gordon Brown suffered a surprise defeat in the House of Commons today when MPs voted to allow all retired Gurkhas to settle in the UK.
Although ministers offered a series of minor concessions intended to satisfy the many Labour MPs who signed an amendment attacking government policy, MPs voted by a majority of 21 to back a Liberal Democrat demand for all former Gurkhas not just those who retired after 1997, plus a few thousand older veterans to be allowed to settle in the UK.

Shows just how out of touch Gordon Brown and his comrades in the upper echelons of the ZANULabour Party are with not only Public Opinion, but with majority Political opinion in the UK.
A victory for British people, and the people who put their lives on the line for our wonderful Country.

If their civic acumen matches their combat skills, they’d be a great asset to that country.
There’s still a place, in this world, for folks that live by a meritocracy. Might teach the Brits a life lesson. Wait! They would definitely be a life lesson for half the US population.

I agree with this. Veterans who have served in the British military should go to the head of any line when it comes to immigration issues.

We're proud of our brave Gurkhas, no matter what our trashy current Government mutters, insinuates of proclaims.

Really amazing the Brown and Labor would try to do this while the country is swarming with “asian” illegals and legals.

Shows how far off track from Public opinion he, and his close comrades are tet68.
Brown and Blair's push for a deeper Communism in Britain is going to fail, we've hit our limit here, Sir Isaac Newton's theory is going to come into play this year, without a doubt.

Yeah, well the Ghurkkas don’t think right, says Labour.
The Ghurkkas can beat up Labour’s wimpy street army. That’s what they are afraid of.

A very large USAF salute to the Gurkhas.
My father served in the CBI during WWII, and knew some of those fine men and their officers. He admired them.
