All of April and the start of May 2009 find us still being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama with no sign of it dying down. Following the introduction to the monthly thread I will post some photos to remind us of the first few days of the first May of the George W Bush Presidency - those were the days.

The quote I have chosen for this month are remarks made during Commander-In-Chief Trophy Event at the South Portico on May 4, 2001.

Tomorrow I will post some more photos from May 2001 I am sure we will see the contrast what we see and hear from the first few months of the Bush Presidency to the Obama Presidency will make us realise even more so how much more respect and love GWB had for the office and the country and more importantly the individual citizens rather than just special interest groups as the current President does not even bother to try to hide.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

I so wish President Bush were still in the White House. I’m sure, though, that he is very happy to be where he is and NOT in the White House. What a mess the Won has made in such a short time. How will we last 4 years??

Has the pretender made arrangements yet for the Prayer Breakfast?

Just watched last years National Georgraphic shows about Air Force One, Marine One, and Behind the Doors of the White House. I can’t tell you the emotion I felt seeing President Bush sitting on Air Force One after 9/11 and the comfort and peace just hearing his voice, knowing it came from his heart and were his true feelings and convictions. I’ve been so uneasy and upset since he left office, it was almost like your dad had come home after a long trip and everything was going to be ok. This sounds really hokey, but I was shocked at the comfort I felt watching a true leader and First Lady who had the country’s best interests in their hearts and minds. You always knew where he stood, and watch you saw is what you got. Not this shell game we have going on at the White House.

I can’t even bring myself to call Obama “president”.

Then call him "Empty Suit" ... works just fine for me.

I am certain they do but of course it is not popular at the moment to be publicly anti Zero though over time especially if Americans in general turn against him them may also be seen to not be over gushing with him.

I could not believe it when the other day I heard she was decribed as the hottest first lady ever.

One thing IMHO she is not and secondly is this something that a First Lady should be, should she not be effective and supportive of her husband behind the scenes in public view champion whatever cause she has aligned herself to and look efficient smart and capable but not hot.

I think you are in a position that many are; they may not have agreed with all of his policies but appreciated the basic goodness and a genuine wish to serve rather than govern with a real sense of concern and care for ordinary people.

As I said earlier they wished to serve the American people rather than simply govern.

They saw their polictical careers as service not a means to making money and obtaining fame.

Great observation. I hadn’t thought of it in those terms before but you’re right. This administration, bad comedy that it is, just makes me edgy. It’s like I’m just waiting to see what ridiculous thing is coming next.

Bush may not have been perfect, but as you said, it was easy to see (for those who weren’t blinded by their liberal ideology) that he had our nation’s interests at heart and sincerely loved this country.
