This coming week, Bishop Thomas Wenski of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orlando, Fla., will take the unusual step of celebrating a Mass of Reparation, to make amends for sins against God.

The motivation: to provide an outlet for Catholics upset with what Wenski calls the University of Notre Dame's "clueless" decision to invite President Barack Obama to speak at its commencement and receive an honorary doctorate May 17.

The nation's flagship Catholic university's honoring of a politician whose abortion rights record clashes with a fundamental church teaching has triggered a reaction among the nation's Catholic bishops that is remarkable in scope and tone, church observers say.

I am delighted to see and highly applaud the stand being taken by many bishops regarding the Obama invitation. I also wish that my Protestant faith would be as vocal against abortion as the Catholic church is. However, I also pray that the bishops and the priest will deny to all elected political officials the rite of communion. Perhaps if this had been consistently done for several years, Obama would have never been extended the invitation.

Throughout all of what we've been reading about this past month, Obama the Obdurate still hangs in there....ignoring the chaos, the heavy hearts, the damaged careers, the cancelled pledges he's caused.

His refusal to withdraw his appearance is beyond any imagination or belief. He not only wants to break this country economically to remake it according to his marxist image, he wants to splinter it to pieces religiously to remake it in the image of himself....an Islamist nihilist.

It's all about himself, he has neither shame or embarassment. It's become a battle of wills, the False Messiah versus the One Messiah.

59 Bishops, where are the rest? For the first time since 1973. lets show aome solidarity as Catholics. Come on Bishops, show some guts. Stand up for the little ones being slaughtered. Speak out and make the efforts of those who have been actively fighting this battle mean something. Don’t cower under the banner of politcal correctness.
