Kansas-—a generally conservative state but why is it that they elect leftists or squish Republicans?
I only spent a few months in Kansas, in Olathe, over 10 years ago. Eastern Kansas is pretty, Western Kansas has lots of wheat, but I have never figured out their politics. Remember Alf Landon, Pres. candidate in 1936 was a ‘progressive’ Republican, a la Teddy Roosevelt. They seem to all take after the famous editor William A. White, a leading progressive.
