Well it looks like 10 and 6 meter DX will suck until I'm an old man. B-P I think during the Maunder minimum had there been shortwave and amateur radio then, the highest frequency that you can communicate would have been like 4000 kilocycles, sometimes it would have gotten as low as 2000 kilocycles. The only usable bands would be the 160 and 80 meter ham radio bands and it would have to be at night. Noted 160 meter (just above the AM radio band) amateur radio pioneer, Stew Perry (W1BB, 1904 - 1998, SK (Silent Key)) would really be proud.
I told Mom about the sun getting dimmer and she now says, "We need a fireplace." B-)

Har! This is the type of
science Barry Odinga said he was going to rely on for his decisions concerning our future. I realized then that Barry was plugged in to the incoherent academic/scientific propaganda loop.
And viewing supspots without a telescope has gotta create problems...

Time to change our logos, fellow climatologists. The new party line (or scientific consensus) is that "Anthropogenic Global Warming has obviously caused Climate Cooling" in carefully selected Western, American, and European areas, largely inhabited (but not for long) by selfish white people with very heavy carbon footprints.
The Bush-Cheney administration has led us in this, as in so many other crises, to the brink of global self-destruction. Allah, The All Wise, be praised for sending us a leader who understands and will save mankind from itself.

I think this is a good thing.
Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow; Stalingrad; Bastogne; Chosen, etc and so on.
Epic wars need freezing battlefields upon which to have the “war changer” battles on.

They will NOT be embarrassed if they get their legislation passed and government controls in place before the wheels come completely off the GW bus. Once in place with their attendant massive bureaucracies they cannot be eliminated. Once in place the trumpeted reasons for their enactment are no longer relevant to anything. once the chains are on your body it dose not matter how they got there.

I heard an interesting story about astronomical ignorance. It may have been a joke, but I don’t know.
A teacher asked his philosophy class this question. If an astronaut dropped his pen on the moon, would it fall to the ground, float around, or drift into space. Only 20% said it would fall to the ground.
Another story which I think was real. A science teacher asked “can you see Polaris (the north star) from Australia?” A student responded “I don’t know because I can’t find the constellation Australia on the star chart.”
We really need to get serious about science education in this country.
