in NYS, a parent is allowed to physically discipline their kid.

we have kids call on their parents all the time. they say their parents beat them.

the parents show us the kids report card or whatever and we usually tell the kids that if we were their parents, we would have hit them harder. and stop calling 911!

When my daughter was 7yrs old, I smacked her butt and she threatened to call DYFSS. I went upstairs and got a suitcase, then handed her the phone. When she asked me what the suitcase was for, I told her that whatever she could fit in her suitcase would be all she would be allowed to keep. Because once she made that phone call, she no longer lived in my home. She could have whatever she could fit in that case and the rest would go to charity for poor but deserving kids.

She never, ever made that threat again.

haha.
:)
