businessinsider ^ | 5/5/9

Posted on 05/05/2009 10:32:18 AM PDT by NativeNewYorker

One participant in negotiations said that the administration's tactic was to present what one described as a "madman theory of the presidency" in which the President is someone to be feared because he was willing to do anything to get his way. The person said this threat was taken very seriously by his firm.

I will tell you one thing. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy a Government Motors (GM) product

It will be a cold day in hell before I buy a Ford!
Ford is obviously portraying itself as *The Stand Alone* car company that did not ask for government assistance. I suspect our calculating government,is setting a trap.

Saw the interview, cannot quote Lauria, but he was quite confident when declaring the truth will come out if this is pushed.

I am always amazed at their surprise, because he actually did say some of the things that he wanted to do (or, rather, that Ayers and TOTUS wanted him to do), and he never seemed like a rational, pleasant person. He and everybody surrounding him was thin-skinned and nasty, and he had a long track record in Chicago of ruthless political behavior.

But for some reason, they seemed to think this was all just a show, and that deep down inside, he and his buddies were just business-as-usual Dems - manageably corrupt, mildly socialistic but mostly for their homies, and fashionably socially liberal (which is probably the reason these guys voted for them). But his political radicalism and his bizarre personal viciousness was always there if they had bothered to really open their eyes - which they clearly did not.

I am not a Ford fan, but to be fair they actually are The Stand Alone car company. I will consider a Ford for my next purchase, assuming they still will not have taken my tax dollars through immoral means. I could easily choose to buy foreign, as I did for my last two purchases, but I'll give Ford a chance. I don't see room for a trap.

“Is it technically illegal? I’m absolutely sure that Obama or his office made some sort of threat, but is that illegal?”

Keeping bonus money is the opposite of illegal, but it didn’t stop Obama, Cuomo, Congress, etc. from going after AIG executives. We too can play that game. Not as well, since we don’t have the implied threat of force behind us. But we do have some media power and the truth.

“One participant in negotiations said ... what one described as a ‘madman theory of the presidency’ in which the President is someone to be feared. ... this threat was taken very seriously by his firm.”

Whoever came up with the “madman theory of the presidency” was wasting his time. The Madman Principle is present in every honest theory of state power, if you stop to think about it long enough. Every government official, especially the top cop, is backed in his every move by the implicit threat of force. We should never forget it.

True enough, but I doubt anyone from the Obama administration made a real death threat. I do believe 100% that the quote about IRS harassment occurred, and that is a crime. Just one tape, just one recording might sink this administration.

A bully is only a bully until one of the victims decides to hit back. :::::::::: This is a problem right now. But once the world of American enterprise decides they have had enough of this extortion and criminal crap, and fight back — it will end real fast. These cowardly wanna-be dictators are not up to a fight with America. It would end their reign of oppression real fast.

Any chance some of this could start this afternoon yet???

You know, in light of what Obama and his ACORN thugs did to AIG executives, this was not only a threat to their businesses. It was a physical threat to the business people involved and their families. Obama indirectly threatened to sic the equivalent of the Klan on them if they did not meet his demands.

Also, remember he told the AIG CEO when pressuring him to break the bonus contracts with the executives, “The only thing standing between you and the mob is me.”

You really believe that someone in the obama admin said threatened the health or physical safety of the executives or their families? I have no doubt they would misuse executive power, but physical threats? I’m not so sure.

And at least two of them voted for the Messiah. Now that is funny. Business people don’t know that what a Marxist is when they are warned before an election?
