Says the man who endorsed the radical leftist. Yawn...
You mean the traitorous Colin Powell is trying to be relevant? Tell him to go back to wherever he came from’ he lost my respect when he backed O. In other words, he’s an @#$$%#^$#%#@$@$%&^%^*.
Screw Powell, that obama asskissing traitor.
Good point. How about this:
Powell is a flaming RINO traitor Unprincipled and Self-Serving
and has betrayed the core Army values he was supposed to epitomize
Namely:
There. That any better?
He's right, though that will require moving back to the right. Small government? Freedom? Low taxes? All good qualities which seem to be lacking with about 1/2 the republican politicians these days.
Advice from a socialist - no thanks.
Then why aren't the people that are collecting "services" paying taxes? What we have right now is 1/2 the population getting said services while the other half pays for it. The half paying for it is about fed up.
"Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less."
BS - pure, unadulterated BS.
I agree. The GOP needs to return to the center (from the left), and continue on until they reach the conservative right.
“Generally voters break down 40-20-40. The Bush rino Republicans have long wanted that middle 20%.
Good news for them, they now are that 20%.
Good news for us as well, it leaves 40% of voters for conservatives to take and win elections.”
I think you have that mixed up. The 40R-20I-40D is now 20R-40I-40D roughly. Lots of poll data to back that up. The RINOs have left 20% of the far right in the Republican party. We have much work to do to get some of that middle back before Nov. 2010.
Shouldn’t Powell be somewhere kissing up to 0bama? If I remember correctly, after the endorsement, 0bama said that Powell would definitely have a place in his administration. So just what is Powell’s place in the administration? Powell’s a racist!
Do not post commie propaganda on FR!
It's not the R, I, and D that matter. This country is 50+% conservative, 30% neutral, and <20% liberal. Unfortunately, the media and left (or am I being redundant) paint a different picture. They've done a good job of defining "mainstream" a good ways left of where it really resides. The public is being hoodwinked.
Powell is CORRECT!
The Republicans, who are nearly as far to the left as the Democrats right now, SHOULD return to the center - and then, when they get there, keep right on moving until they find a respectable position on the RIGHT!
Powell is an idiot.
The man's a monster. Think about the damage he's been able to inflict:
1) The "You break it, you bought it" dictum on Iraq that for some bizarre reason both Bushes adhered to like one of the Ten Commandments. Because of it, Saddam remained in power, hundreds of thousands were slaughtered, Bill Clinton was elected, al Qaeda was born and America was attacked at home and abroad for a decade.
2) The all-or-nothing WMD case for war, when Saddam's terror ties, mass atrocities and violations of the cease-fire were more than enough to justify the invasion. By all accounts, Powell dismissed the (glaring) Saddam-al Qaeda ties and fought to focus on Hussein's weapons (for obvious reasons, if you think about it... he was the architect of the 1991 withdrawal that left Saddam in Baghdad... he didn't want to be held indirectly responsible for 9/11). So we debated it for a year and half while Saddam shipped his weapons to the Baathists next door. That worked out beautifully.
3) The single biggest distraction of Bush's second term: Valerie Plame and the railroading of Scooter Libby (a Cheney man, one of the good guys in the Bush WH). The entire sh*tstorm brought to you by Colin Powell's Chief of Staff.
Colin Powell has never been right about anything. He's so consistently wrong about things big and small, his advice is so utterly worthless, you have to conclude that his very being must be an act of sabotage. He's pro-choice, favors affirmative action, believes in global warming, wants massive government and has never been an advocate for any non-military moderately conservative cause in his entire career... yet somehow, for some inexplicable reason, he calls himself a republican and people believe him. And because he's black, and the party is desperate to attract minority voters, he gets to be a power player in the party for almost two decades.
Nobody provides that much utility to the enemy by accident. His entire body of work consists of damaging the republican party in crucial situations. Somebody's getting their money's worth out of him.
I would have more respect for Powell if he had just said what everyone else new to be true, "I'm voting for Barack Obama because he's half black, and so am I."
Harry, like post #92! COOL icon!! POWELL?? I thought he had more sense than that. SHEESH!! A military man....who’da thot?
I think I’m gonna puke.
I’m not for ideology, but for the presevation of the countries best. Powell’s support of Obama is the saddest thing I can recall and his opinion is nothing, if it ever meant anything (to me). The pulse of America may not be purely conservative, but it isn’t McCain, Specter, etc.
To me, I don’t mind some of these rinos being in the party, but I damn sure don’t want them to be our party leaders. I want someone that can aim for the stars but has a level practicality. He/she won’t be perfect even among the people here, but he/she damn sure isn’t a democrat in disguise.
I think that’s all possible. It happened before or so it seems.
I’d really love to know why these so-called party faithful RINOs are so determined to attack their fellow Republicans. As we see the leftists pursue pretty much everything they want, the further left the better, our RINO brethren only seem to find time to attack those of us who are supposedly on the same team. I mean, we may not agree on everything, but if they are truly moderate/centrist, why wouldn’t they attack the leftists in the OTHER party at least as much as those of us in the SAME party? It just doesn’t make sense, that is, unless they really don’t care about the party.
