Forgive Us Our Trespasses

Dr. Alan Keyes

With the arrest of Randall Terry, Father Jenkins and the University administration at Notre Dame take their advocacy of evil to a new level of spiritual atrocity.

In a little less than two weeks they will welcome to the university campus a man who represents the most abominable and extreme commitment ever known in US politics to destroying the God given right to life of innocent human offspring.

With their actions and the "honor" they confer upon Obama, they will actively promote the lie that it is possible to dishonor God blatantly and unashamedly, yet be somehow "honorable" in the eyes of those who profess faith in Jesus Christ.

Christ said:

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (Matthew 25:31-40)

These words must ring in the ears of faithful Christians as they consider the grim reality of abortion. Every time abortionists rip a child limb from limb within the womb; every time they crush the fragile head; every time they scorch the life from its body with a death dealing solution; every time they scrape its nascent cells of life from the walls of a womb- Jesus is savagely beaten again; his skull pressed down with thorns; his limbs pulled savagely in their sockets; his hands and feet pierced through with nails; his breath drawn with fiery pain; his life finally extinguished; every time.

And every time there stands vociferous in the crowd, the ambitious man of blood, Barack Obama. He is justifying the torture, forcing bystanders to aid in the atrocity, assuring that the nails are paid for and the henchmen of evil well fed and rewarded for their role in the daily crucifixion. Even the garments of the innocent children (their little organs or stem cells), like the vesture of Christ, he prepares for division among those who perpetrate the slaughter.

All his life Randall Terry, seeing this passion play of evil repeated over and over again in our day, has born witness bravely and shamelessly against it. On the day of crucifixion, Christ endures the punishment reserved for infamous rebels and criminals. Fearing that they too would be treated as criminals, Peter and most of the other disciples run and hide. So too do many of us today. Though we profess to believe that abortion breaks God's fundamental law, we will not stand boldly with Jesus as he endures humiliating injustice. We fear for ourselves and shrink from association with the bloody and terrible images of torture and death. But through the years Randall Terry, and those who share his lion's heart for justice, have stood with the Mother of our Lord at the foot of the Cross. They have been sprayed with the blood and water that gushed from his wounded side. They have received from the pierced and bleeding hand of our Dying Lord, the Blessed Gift by which he made his Mother the mother of all the faithful ones who endure with Him to the end, receiving His crown of pain, which is also the crown of life.

Instead of cringing inwardly at Randall Terry's bold willingness to be arrested for bearing witness to God's truth, those who understand the gift of Christ's words and example must be moved to imitate his boldness. Tragically, ironically, a supposedly Catholic university and its administration have stepped forward to be the Bull Connors of this era's most clear and pressing battle for God given human rights. They have declared it an offense peacefully to demonstrate the evil of abortion. They have declared it an offense, prayerfully to bear witness to truth on a campus supposedly guided by and subordinate to that truth.

Though it be declared an offense against them, it is a duty to Truth, and to Christ and to God. Wherever there are faithful hearts drawn to do this duty, they must feel now the vocation to join Randall Terry in defiance of this intimidation. I will join him. I ask others who all these years have prayed and labored for the unborn to join us. I know you are there. I have broken bread with you at dinners for crisis pregnancy centers and right to life groups. I have marched with you to proclaim the sanctity of innocent life, and decry the laws that sanction its destruction. I have been uplifted by your faith, your perseverance, your love of God and His son.

The forces of evil mean to lay final claim to a place supposed to be within the precincts of our God and Lord. Come what may, we must come forth now to occupy and hold it against them.

I will go to South Bend. I will step foot on the Notre Dame campus to lift up the standard that protects the life of the innocent children of this and every generation. I will do it all day and every day from now until the Master comes if need be, though it mean I shall be housed every day in the prison house of lies and injustice that Obama, Jenkins and their minions now mean to construct for those who will never be still and silent in the face of their mockery of God and justice, their celebration of evil.

If this be trespass, then forgive us our trespasses and join us in trespassing until the South Bend jail is filled to overflowing with witnesses to truth; filled beyond capacity; filled until we break the most onerous shackles of all- the ones that bind the heart and mind to evil and our nation to the path of its destruction.

In the cause of life, there is room for all sorts of people, all across the spectrum, drawing the line only at violence and illegal behavior. (Peacefully offering yourself up to be arrested in a righteous cause seems to me to be a worthy exception to that word “illegal.”)

I have never supported Keyes as a politician, because frankly I don’t think he has the instincts and the prudence that a politician needs. But I have always admired him as a man and a spokeman for decency and morality.

I fully support him in what he says here, just as I fully support Randall Terry. Are they publicity hounds? Well, they don’t seek publicity for their own advancement or enrichment. They seek it for their cause, which is a good cause, fighting against evil and against murder of innocents and against the Culture of Death that threatens to destroy our country and our civilization.

The same thing as Thomas Paine did.

Tom Paine arguably helped change the course of history. Alan Keyes has accomplished nothing. How many times has the guy run for President? I've lost count. To me he's always been just an egotistical gasbag. I know that offends some here but it's how I've always seen him.

I like Alan Keyes because of what he truly believes in. Basically the same reason of respect a black man like Bill Cosby too. They both have it (the conservative philosophy) exactly right.

The difference is that Cosby is a man of genuine achievement.

Do you consider everyone who runs for office several times and loses every time, as “accomplished nothing”? Given the caliber of people who do get elected these days, I’d say Dr. Keyes is in a better company having lost.

Keyes should have been arrested for the lousy campaign he ran against Obowma in 2004.

Well, he did have to contend with Republicans who treated him exactly the way you just did with your post. That’s a pretty steep hill to climb.

YES, WE CAN
STOP OBAMA
at
NOTRE DAME
Ping List

This is meant to be an AD-HOC action list to (selectively) report and urge specific actions to stop Obama and win the Battle of Notre Dame. This is not just for Catholics. It's for anybody who wants --- in the words of Mary of Nazareth--- to "put down the mighty from their thrones" (baby-killers in high places) and to "lift up the humble" (tiny infants and their valiant defenders).

*****
Unless told otherwise, I will cheerfully keep you on my list.

If you want me to delete your name, I will just as cheerfully remove you if you will send me a "Private Message".

I'm asking for "Private Message" for deletions only, to ensure that I see your request.

How the action is shaping up

Some of the Notre Dame graduating seniors favor holding a prayer vigil concurrent with the graduation and boycotting their own commencement; others have plans to attend the commencement and protest there.

Meanwhile, a number of pro-life organizations are inviting EVERYBODY --- ALL PRO-LIFE PEOPLE, non-Catholics and Catholics alike --- to come to South Bend and join the protest.

The Pro-Life Action League (Illinois) and the Citizens for a Pro-Life Society (Michigan), have joined forces to organize buses and coordinate protest action: their joint website is at NotreDameProtest.com.

Working with them is Randall Terry, at StopObamaNotreDame.com, who has opened an office in South Bend, recruited full-time volunteers, and was just arrested at Notre Dame for walking onto the property.

Much of the press coverage--- local, national and international --- can be found HERE.

HERE'S WHAT WE CAN DO NOW

As most of us know, Bishop John D'Arcy, the bishop of Ft. Wayne-South Bend, has already protested the Obama honors by announcing that he will boycott the commencement. At this point, the most important action item is to encourage him to take the next logical steps:

Call Bp. D'Arcy right now. THANK him for boycotting the commencement, and urge him to take the next critically necessary steps. His number in Fort Wayne is: (260) 422-4611; in South Bend, (574) 234-0687

A particularly good person to send an e-mail to is the Communications Director of the Diocese, Vince LaBarbera:

vlabarbera@FW.diocesefwsc.org

(Remember, he is a "friendly." We are telling Mr. LaBaebera we are SUPPORTING Bishop D'Arcy and asking him to take the next critical steps.)

These are the action recommendations as summarized by Randall Terry, and as far as I can see, they represent a true consensus of what the faithful prolife students themselves want us to do.

And pray. Pray hard.

You know, there was a time when I kind of liked Keyes. That ended after the Iowa caucus in 2000. Keyes finished an unexpectedly strong third (IIRC) and attributed his "victory" to "Almighty God" (his words). Made me shudder to hear it and changed my view of the man permanently .

Let's just say that we would be vastly further ahead with Keyes in the WH that what we have now. Hands down.

The things Keyes says are things, generally, that somebody ought to say.

Beg to differ.. have you really listened to the man's words and observe his actions to back it up? The man is constitutionally brilliant and blessed with a passion for Biblical principles! You are free to bash him but I will defend this great man against attacks by lesser minds!

It takes analysis to determine the worth of a historical figure. You can’t just go by general consensus. History is written by the victors. Thomas Paine is viewed as he is because his side won. If the British had won, Paine would have been viewed by the red coats and royal sympathizers as “an egotistical gasbag” who “has accomplished nothing”. I am sorry that you feel the same way as the people who have won the battle to destroy America and who are now writing the history books. I, on the other hand, will teach my children what Dr. Keyes has said and why it is right.
