I like my 06 Explorer. Didn’t Ford add a shift to keep building them due to demand? If I could find a new OD gear so I can crank 1500 RPM and do 65mph, I would be happier with the gpm, or, could they put the CVT transmission in the Explorer to squeeze a few more GPM? Otherwise, it is a great car! I got 18.2mpg going from Chicago to DC, loaded with 4 adults and luggage - no complaints!

Nugent Broncos over the years. He used to drive almost all of these as primary vehicles. He also had a few hot rod lincolns over the years.

I generally get 23 mpg on the freeways in my Explorer. Not much different than many of the cars my husband has owned. I loved going to a town 110 miles away and back home to find that I had only gone through an eighth of a tank of gas.
