What were they singing? It sounded a bit like Gregorian chant.

Same thought here. The first few bangs of the gavel seemed to keep time with it.

I think they were singing one of the stanzas of Dire Strait's "Money for Nothing":
See the little faggot with the earring and the makeup

Yeah buddy that’s his own hair

That little faggot got his own jet airplane

That little faggot he’s a millionaire

Gotta install microwave ovens

Custom kitchen deliveries

We gotta move these refrigerators

Gotta move these colour TV's

Actually, they were just humming softly.

Barney rolled his eyes and swooned...

There might be more we can glean from this story if we knew the hymn, chant, and/or lyrics to what was being sung.

The singers were competent.

I wonder who it was.

And I definitely would like to know what they were singing.

"Actually, they were just humming softly."

No. I am positive that they were vocalizing words, and I think that it was in English.

The audio could be pulled in to a sound editor, like "Audacity", and filtered so the lyrics could be heard better.

Maybe it was Latin or Spanish.

I’ve listened to it a few times.... I’m not adept with signal processing... anyone out there able to do some EQ and pull out the lyrics?

It was great, anyway...

What do you do when no one will listen?

Apparently, some people find ways to be heard.
