President Barack Obama sent a hand-written note in response to a Chicago-area lesbian's plea for him to change the military's ban on openly gay and lesbian servicemembers. Tsao said she is “very hopeful” after receiving the letter May 5. “I believe he is a man of his word. … My heart is bounding with joy.” The timing is bittersweet: Tsao's last day in the service will be May 19, 2009.
Obama's note reads: “Thanks for your wonderful and thoughtful letter. It is because of outstanding Americans like you that I committed to changing our current policy. Although it will take some time to complete ( partly because it needs Congressional action ) I intend to fulfill my commitment!” It is signed Barack Obama. Windy City Times has contacted the White House but has not had word back confirming the letter's veracity.
In her Jan. 26 letter to President Barack Obama, 2nd Lt. Sandy Tsao, 24, came out as a lesbian in the U.S. Army. The former resident of Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood wrote a fellow former South Sider in his new White House home to tell him she could no longer serve her country because she is a lesbian.
Sunday, Feb. 8, marked the one-year anniversary of Tsao's active duty, full-time service to her country. On May 19, Tsao expects to receive an Article 15 honorable discharge because of homosexual conduct. Tsao was told by her chain of command that her letter was received by Obama's White House. It was her own choice to come out.

She knew the rules when she signed up. If she didn’t like it she shouldn’t have joined. If Obama makes it ok for gays to show themselves in the military a lot of people will get hurt. I can see the military getting divided over this. Cause tension among the ranks and now you have weakened the most powerful fighting force in the world.

She is living and working with other women whom she potentially finds sexually attractive. Do you propose that men be able to shower and bunk with female soldiers too? Of course not. She announced her lifestyle choice knowing full well it was a violation of military policy. There is no explanation for that other than she wanted to get out of her military obligation. I say good riddance.

I'm not defending this woman, nor am I advocating gays in the military - I think it would be a mistake. But, in point of fact, many people serve "openly" in the military now.
Since 9/11, if you were a gay in the military, you almost had to make it your mission to get discharged because of being gay. Very few commands, especially those that were either in a combat zone, or were soon to travel to a combat zone would pursue these cases.
The fact of the matter is, there has been a manpower shortage in the armed forces, especially in the Marines and the Army, and no one was in a hurry to get rid of otherwise qualified soldiers and Marines.

I thought when Clinton took steps to allow sexual deviants to serve openly in the Armed Forces that he was just naive about the consequences. However, I believe Obama actually wants to humiliate and destabilize our military. Those who elected him have no respect for the military or for our country.

Yes, I don’t think the regular soldiers and the higher command will take kindly to this “change.” The openly gay soldiers would be legally protected, but count on the establishment coming up with some extremely creative means to seperate the men from the “boys.”
Speaking purely as the ‘Devils Advocate’, allowing open homosexuals to serve in the military doesn’t seemed to have caused an problems in other countries such as Israel, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Britain, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland..etc.

LOL, if some fruit tried to come on to me in the showers, I hate to think what would happen. Normal soldiers aren’t going to stand for this type of deviancy being flaunted in their faces. It’s only been a few months, and Obama is well on his way to destroying our country.
Here is the real question to put to the public. Should anyone be forced to take common showers with people who are sexually attracted to them? YES / NO

It is however a simple task to remove her from the service even to punish her as well if anyone has the balls to.
She knew she was a lesbian prior to taking the oath of enlistment, or an officer’s equivalent and she knew the US government’s policy on gays in the military as well as what the UCMJ says about it.
Therefore she illegally entered into a contract she had no intentions of obeying with the US government and the US Army, she is the prefect test case, young pretty and a minority from Obama’s stomping grounds.
You had to know this was coming.
