I'm considering it merely from the PR point of view. The whole purpose of demonstrations such as these is to win the political argument, and you do so by building a consensus founded upon principle. You arrive at that consensus by winning people's hearts and minds, and I think theatrics like fake blood make it easy for people to categorize the proponent as someone not to be taken seriously. By contrast, I think an MLK/Ghandi style sit in, march, etc., is both dignified and poignant, and invites people to examine the principle, rather than roll their eyes at the theatrics. That's just my opinion, but I think a cause is better served by persistent, principled, and dignified opposition than by unpleasant theatrics.

I prefer the Keyes way.

We need more blood and guts. The problem is the touchy feely ProLifers that are so PC they shy away from confrontation. This is a war for the life of MILLIONS of babies evey year. Thousands very day. Year after year.

Keyes should have had BLACK baby dolls bleeding with vaccum cleaners sucking their brains out.

Instead we have touchy feely repubs like Hannity who goes around listing all the things we need to do to save the country but never seems to include the words STOP ABORTION.

Hannity’s Top 10 Items for Victory

1) To be the Candidate of National security:
a) Victory in Iraq
b) Fully support NSA, Patriot act, tough interrogations, keeping Gitmo open
c) A Candidate that pledges to NOT demean our military while they are fighting for their Country. eg Harry Reid: “the surge has failed”, “the war is lost”
d) Candidate that promises to ensure that our veterans can live out their lives in dignity.

2) The Candidate who pledges to oppose Appeasement:
a) The Candidate will oppose any and all efforts to negotiate with dictators of the world in places like Iran, Syria, N.Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela without “pre-conditions”

3) The Candidate Pledges to support Tax CUTS, and fiscal responsibility:
a) The American people are NOT under taxed, Government Spends too much
b) The Candidate who Pledges to ELIMINATE and VOTE AGAINST ALL Earmarks
c) The Candidate pledges to BALANCE the budget

4) The Candidate Pledges to be a supporter of “Energy Independence”
a) supports Immediate drilling in Anwar and the 48 states
b) Building new refineries
c) Begin building and using Nuclear Facilities
d) expand coal mining
e) realistic steward of the environment
While simultaneously working with private industry to develop the new energy technologies for the future, with the goal being that America becomes completely energy independent within the next 15 years.

5) The Candidate pledges to secure our borders completely within 12 months:
a) build all necessary fences
b) use all available technology to help and support agents at the border
c) train and hire agents as needed

6) Healthcare:
The Candidate will look for Free-Market solutions to the problems facing the Healthcare industry, and will vigorously oppose any efforts to “nationalize healthcare”.
a) The Candidate will fight for Individual health savings accounts, that includes “catastrophic insurance” for every American, so people can control their own healthcare choices.

7) Education:
a) The Candidate pledges to “save” American children from the failing educational system
b) The Candidate will fight to break the unholy alliance of the Democratic party and teachers unions, which at best has institutionalized mediocrity, and has failed children across the country
c) fight for “CHOICE” in education and let parents decide
d) fight for vouchers for parents

Social Security and Medicare:
a) The Candidate will “save” social security and medicare from bankruptcy.
b) Options will include “private retirement” funds so people can “control” their own destiny.

9) Judges
a) The Candidate vows to support ONLY judges who recognize that their job is to interpret the Constitution, and NOT legislate from the bench.

10) American Dream:
The Candidate accepts as their duty and responsibility to educate, inform, and remind people that with the blessings of Freedom comes a Great responsibility. That Government’s primary goal is to preserve, protect and defend our God given gift of freedom.

Abortion is Child Abuse Murder Genocide that makes the Nazis look like boyscouts. We need to fight it like Keyes not like Hennity.

So well said, and I agree. Ghandi style sit-ins, without all the theatrics, would also be something I could support.

But it's the publicity that we need.

As for the personal motivation of Terry and Keyes, I'll have to go back and read John Wisdom's Other Minds to be sure that it is still logically impossible for us to know what is in another person's mind. I'll stop and get new glasses first but I'm pretty sure that's what it said.

So we need publicity of someone breaking the law? Did I get that right?

No thanks! I will take the billboard and the alternate Graduation Ceremony in protest of ZERO. That accomplishes something. Catholics are doing it right.

Keyes has been grandstanding for as long as I can remember and as for Terry, he is disgusting and cannot wait to get where he gets noticed.

You continue to support the grandstanders and I will continue to support the rank and file of the pro-life movement who are there whether there is a camera or not.

What do you think has caused all the commotion? I would venture to say most people would not have heard about this if Terry and Keyes had not been arrested.

And are you excommunicating them? They're both Catholic.

As for the billboard, look what has happened to it. The politically correct establishment got hold of it and stuck that misleading word "choice" in there--the rhetoric of the opposition.

I think Father Pavone is doing a grand job. On that we are agreed. We are both pro-life. I wish it were true that we both supported all efforts in that direction.

I agree with Jenny. The last thing the Pro-Lifers want is to become known as a bunch of radicals and extremists. It will turn people off just as much as the things the terrorist do in order to get attention.

But, way cool that Keyes is taking a stand.

We don't know that.

In my post #30 I outlined why these gruesome tactics are used.

Leftist oppostion to them is strong circumstantial evidence that they work. If they really did turn most people off the Leftists would be encouraging us to be even more gruesome.

“And this historic confrontation between good and evil has only just begun.”

Mother Teresa at our Nation Prayer Breakfast:

“But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself.

And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even His life to love us. So, the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love, that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts.

By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems.

And, by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion.

Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.”

Keyes continued, “If this be trespass, then forgive us our trespasses and join us in trespassing until the South Bend jail is filled to overflowing with witnesses to truth; filled beyond capacity; filled until we break the most onerous shackles – the ones that bind the heart and mind to evil and our nation to the path of its destruction.”

Awesome

Mr. Keyes is amazing.

I wish that we had more leaders who were just like him.

Look what happened when too many over sensitive types decided to remove pictures of 9-11 out of the public view, the country forgot!!!

It’s always easier to look over or accept something one does not see - they exact reason it’s generally the left who screams the loudest when a picture from an actual abortion is shown. Not to mention the complete meltdown that happens when someone tries to say a woman should see her ultrasound prior to abortion a baby.

Sorry folks, but Alan Keyes is a screwball. He refused to go on Roger Hedgecock’s show unless money was put on a credit card. He and Randel Terry are a pair of self-promoters.
