Jordan's King Abdullah II welcomed Pope Benedict XVI in Amman on Friday and urged the kind to open reopen dialogue between the Muslim and Christian worlds.

In his first remarks of his three-day visit to the country, the pope talked of his respect for the Islamic faith and for Jordan’s dedication to freedom of religion and said the Roman Catholic Church might help bring peace to the region, The New York Times reported. Benedict is to spend eight days in the Middle East.
“Friends, unlike the pilgrims of old, I do not come bearing gifts or offerings,” Benedict said during a visit to a Catholic organization. “I come simply with an intention, a hope: to pray for the precious gift of unity and peace, most specifically for the Middle East.”

...ah, ‘dialogue.’ I love this notion of dialogue. When you get to the point where you both recognize that you have mutually exclusive views on religion and God...then what?
Then hopefully you can agree to disagree and live in peace.
Yada, yada, yada.
ahahahahahahahaha! Good one!
As I have learned from the Episcopal Church and their years of dialogue over gay priests and marriage, to the other side dialogue means they talk until we agree they are right.

Yes to go over the terms of handover of the western territories
Difficult when one side's religion demands that they rule the world, and everyone else must either convert, submit to being ruled, or die.
Diologue—Muslims doing all the talking and threatining.
I did say hopefully. There are a lot of moderate Muslims around the world, those that the jihadists would probably call "Muslim in name only." I know some of them. Jordan is actually one of the more moderate Muslim countries. Still not perfect, but better than most of the rest.
Never going to happen, this is all a con. There is no reason for interfaith dialogue. If Muslims want to change things they have to have talks among themselves. “Moderate” Islam is not coming to the rescue.
I know plenty of people in the UK who thought they had “moderate” Muslim friends. They do not think that anymore. If they are not actively taking to the streets against the sharia push in the West they are part of the problem.
Reading though this thread is quite a shocker
If there is any rational voice of moderation and one hope for the middle east, it is Jordan’s King Abdullah II
Maybe some here should actually read about the man before throwing him in the same lot as the ignorant masses of muzzies
They are already doing that. Unfortunately the jihadists tend to take control. Moderates who speak out tend to get a price on their heads.
Really, meanwhile the Islamic world is getting stricter and stricter. The excuses do not cut it. There are over a billion of them and if the majority of them were so against what is going on in the world they would of taken over a long time ago. Your Muslim friends are giving you a song and a dance. The sooner that the West ends Muslim immigration the better.
What is a shocker is that after 1400 years some people cannot figure out that some form of “moderate” Islam is not coming to the rescue. Even if he is a “moderate” the rest of the Islamic world is going to do what they want.
Jordan Expels Foreign Christians for ‘Illegal’ Preaching

The Muslim-majority country of Jordan acknowledged Wednesday that it expelled foreign Christians for illegal preaching under what it claims was the guise of charity work.
The announcement is the first official acknowledgment that the government has clamped down on several foreign Christian preachers. Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said Christians had come to Jordan under the pretext of charitable and voluntary activities, but they had violated the law by undertaking preaching activities and were expelled, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Under Jordanian law, conversion from Islam to Christianity is not allowed in Muslim conservative Jordan and foreign missionary groups are banned from seeking converts, according to Agence France-Presse.

Of course there are. Problem is, there are a lot of Muslims period. It only takes a small fraction of zealots, real zealots, to cause a whole bunch of hurt.
Or to lose them.
