Pak Govt to Take Over All Madrassas: Zardari
The Times of India ^ | 11 May 2009

Posted on 05/10/2009 7:33:12 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that all madrassas in the country would be taken over by the government to separate the students from extremism and impart modern as well as religious education to them.

Speaking at a community dinner, Zardari said his government has resolved to bring reforms in the madrassa system and bring it under the government system.

Commenting on the ongoing military operation in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP) against the Taliban and other terrorist groups Zardari said the government would initiate every necessary step to pull the country out of the crisis and hand over a better Pakistan to the next generation.

“We are striving for reconciliation with all forces in Pakistan, rejuvenation of national institutions, reorganisation of Pakistan’s strength. We have a lot of strength but we have never allowed our full potential to be utilised for the good of the country,” The News quoted Zardari, as saying.

Zardari also claimed that Islamabad has shifted an ‘unspecified number’ of troops from its eastern border with India to fight against the Taliban.

Surprised the on going fall of Pakistan isn’t getting more play here on FR.

If the nukes go missing (or are acknowledged as so) then all hell will break loose.

I think you are right...and then it will get very, very tense...Israel and India will surely have interesting responses to a failed Pakistan.

If it does, it will be because the army moves in.

Very, very interesting. Thanks for posting.

The madrass is a good start, Zardari. Next the mosque? /sarcasm

(the mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets, the believers our soldiers)

Great thread. Thanks to all posters.

Problem is, there is no stable government in Pakistan and the lefties would have to convince Islam that they have a better plan for education. Islam hates commies as much as the West because they don't believe in G-d. But, who knows... anything to limit the power of these dark ages fanatics. It is hard to believe is a post religious world that Islam can be so strong.
