Naturalized Citizens Are Poised To Reshape California's Political Landscape

Naturalized citizens are poised to reshape California's political landscape

The increase in naturalized Asian and Latino citizens -- 300,000 people took the oath of allegiance in 2008 -- could alter the state's policy priorities for years to come, analysts say.

More than 1 million immigrants became U.S. citizens last year, hastening the ethnic transformation of California's political landscape with more Latinos and Asians now eligible to vote.

Leading the wave, California's 300,000 new citizens accounted for nearly one-third of the nation's total and represented a near-doubling over 2006, according to a recent report by the U.S. Office of Immigration Statistics.

Florida recorded the second-largest group of new citizens, and Texas claimed the fastest growth.

Mexicans, who have traditionally registered low rates of naturalization, represented the largest group, with nearly one-fourth of the total. They were followed by Indians, Filipinos, Chinese, Cubans and Vietnamese.

The new citizens are reshaping California's electorate and are likely to reorder the state's policy priorities, some political analysts predict. Several polls show that Latinos and Asians are more supportive than whites of public investments and broad services, even if they require higher taxes.

Yeah..they support higher taxes because they don’t pay them.
The immigrants avoid taxes in the black economy and via cheating. They have classes in it. They soon will be left to pay for their own problems.

Do they actually believe the someone else will provide the money?

I wonder about these polls. “Several polls”? Generally one names the polls in question.

The handwriting has been on the wall since prop 187 was struck down by a single judge(the name escapes me.We moved back east right after that.

I had no reservations about moving from San Diego to Pocatello, Idaho. The writing has been on the wall for well over 10 years. The underclass that wants high taxes and lots of government benefits has more votes than those who pay the taxes and get none of the benefits. There is no reason to continue being enslaved by the state. Move to where you still have a voice. Move to somewhere with low taxes. Move to somewhere that values freedom over the nanny state.

In November 1997, two years after the measure passed in California, federal Judge Mariana R. Pfaelzer issued a ruling.

In a 32-page opinion on the case, the judge declared Proposition 187 “not constitutional on its face.” She struck down all of the law’s major provisions including the ban on public school attendance and health and social-service benefits. She did let stand less-controversial elements of the law, which established criminal penalties for the use of false immigration documents.

Some conservatives never learn. Liberals have a one-track mind, and that one track is to find ways to amass government power and work toward a one-party leftist state. Liberals aren't good for much, but they know how to grab power. Everything liberals support is designed to do this. They may claim it won't do it. They may even claim that what they're doing will reduce government power. But it won't.

But, unfortunately, some conservatives have never figured this out. When liberals want to throw the borders open, they jump on the bandwagon, convinced that the ethnic make-up of our nation doesn't make any difference. But of course it makes a difference. Liberals wouldn't spend so much time trying to change it if it didn't make any difference.

Liberals also claim that social liberalism (the homosexual agenda, etc.) is a reduction in government size. That's not true, either. It's an increase in government size. Otherwise, liberals wouldn't spend so much time pushing for these causes. But the libertarian type conservatives fall for it every time and jump on the social liberal bandwagon.

And California is a perfect example of all of this. Changing demographics combined with social liberalism have turned it into a socialist enclave right in our very midst.

"The new citizens are reshaping California's electorate and are likely to reorder the state's policy priorities..."

I really don't see how, the state is already completely dominated by the Left. Whats 300,000 more Dem votes in a state of 36,000,000?

“White Flight” from California has at least one bizarre and depressing downside.

For at least a decade King County (Seattle), Washington, has been the number two destination for white California residents leaving the state.

Yet, in 2008, King County voted 70% Obama to 29% McCain.

Insanity.

They destroyed California with that kind of voting.

Now, they are trying to destroy their new home, Washington state.

Well, DW & I moved from CA to Southern Oregon.

I can tell you right now that we felt right at home politically and kept right on voting the way we have always done.

If you want more taxes, the answer is no. And we don’t care what goofy excuse you give. If it is for the chilluns, you guys do without something and spend it on the chilluns.

As far as individual politicians go: “That government is best which governs least”. I always look for whoever I think will do the least and vote for him. The only exception is that every once in a long while someone runs for office who I just know is really going to gum up the works. Now there is my man.

Same thing has happened to New Hampshire, with idiot refugees from Massachusetts.

If we were smart, we would get a hold of those lists and start educating them. We assume that their beliefs are set in iron and we sit wringing our hands.
1. Many lie on surveys giving the media what they think they want them to say.
2. Media skews these polls because they want to affect the electorate and give people the feeling of helplessness.
3. If they do believe this then we need to educate them.
Potentially the best Republicans are those that are first generation citizens. We just don’t go after them.

There is a very little known class system in the US among the Hispanics they are jealous of Mexicans from Mexico and treat them badly.

However employers know those from Mexico still have the values and work ethics they need and would rather hire them - not to save money by paying them an hourly wage that is lower, but by not having them steal, lie, cheat, and miss the day after payday. They still have a work ethic and work hard and do a good job. They still believe that the worker’s value is directly dependent on his output. They haven’t been taught the law of greed and envy. Grumbling that when they work it just buys the owner a boat instead of going to them.

God truly blessed me when he made me move from CA to TX. A lot more common sense here. And guns, which is really cool.

When I go back to visit relatives, t heir lunacy/ignorance/agenda is almost laughable in it's extremism.

Whereas once it was a constant burden and a thorn in my side, now the mess that is CA is merely an amusing distraction to me. Sadly, my relatives remain ignorant liberal tools with no critical thinking ability or respect for opinions that differ from theirs.

I visit less and less.
