WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Far from a secure, undisclosed location, former Vice President Dick Cheney is out in the open and increasing his criticism on the Obama administration and even fellow Republicans.
But Ed Rollins, a CNN contributor and GOP strategist, says Cheney's attacks are not helping the Republican image.
"While he certainly has a right to defend what they did over the last eight years, since he was the architect of much of it ... at the end of the day, we need to be looking forward, not backwards," Rollins said Monday. "[Powell] is a man of great stature and a man obviously either party would like to have supporting them."
"You poll Rush Limbaugh, Colin Powell, my money is on Colin Powell," Democratic strategist Donna Brazile.
Democratic strategist Lisa Caputo, a former Hillary Clinton campaign official, said Monday that Democrats "couldn't love anything more than having Dick Cheney as the spokesperson for the [Republican Party]."

"Cheney said Sunday that he'd even be willing to go to Congress to fight for continued use of interrogation methods.
"Certainly. ... I've made it very clear that I feel very strongly that what we did here was exactly the right thing to do."

News flash to the GOP “strategist”.
The GOP “leadership” damn well better be looking over their shoulders. IF they haven’t yet figured out that it is way past time to shed themselves of appeasers and party victory over all, then it is way past time for us to fix em out of the game.

Wasn’t Ed Rollins John McNuts’s campaign manager? If so, he really helped the GOP, didn’t he?

Something else that Ed Rollins said not too long ago made me wonder if he was drifting to the left. I believe Ed Rollins was a Reaganite, at least at one time. But I may have him confused with someone else.

God, I love Dick Cheney. I just wish he was president.

You and me both sister. I'd love to see Dick Cheney debate the Presidential teleprompter anywhere, anytime.

Powell endorse Obama for Pres. With that, he pretty much lost his credibility for wishing REPUBs well.

"I believe Ed Rollins was a Reaganite, at least at one time"
Ed Rollins ran Reagans re-election campaign, which quite frankly was a pretty easy job.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
at the end of the day, we need to be looking forward, not backwards," Rollins said "...except when to blame Bush & Cheney as cover for Dear Leader's incompetence!", Rollins thought.

You might be thinking of the other Commie News Network “conservative”, David Gergen.

Ed Rollins?
Screw him!
Those who do not remember the PAST are doomed to REPEAT IT!
Rollins is simply wrong on this one.
I disagreed with W. on a few issues, but I admire the man.
One of the things that bugs me, about W. is that W. did NOT fight back and defend himself, which hurt the entire Party.
Looking FORWARD??
Ya, like the Democrats were hurt by the Clintons and the Carters and the Kennedys that NEVER, EVER go away?
Why do Republicans think that we can win by:
Supporting liberal policy -—
-— While -—
REFUSING to use liberal Democrat STRATEGY???
Some Republicans don't want to get their hands dirty, don't want to fight, don't like street activism, don't like negative campaigning, don't like informing the voters about the issues, -—
But we LET the Democrats tear us apart, and that is unilateral political disarmament!

We definitely had the wrong guy at the front of the ticket. Cheney would have been another Reagan.
I hope he continues to crank up the attacks on the Left.

"Wasnt Ed Rollins John McNutss campaign manager?"
No, Huckabees. I know that Huckabee had some liberal tendencies as a governor but overall he was conservative. And the more I listen to him, the more I might be inclined to support him over many of the other candidates in 2012. He could be following in the Reagan path. Lost to a RINO in the primary and came back to win on a conservative wave. True, he liked McCain (where as Reagan and Ford never got along), but during those 4 years Reagan was a prolific writer and expressed his many ideas way before the 1980 election.
Through Huckabees shows and appearances, he is doing the same thing, expressing his views and right now they are pretty conservative. He also is very capable of expressing our side very well. Let's remember that Reagan was not perfect as a governor either. He passed gun banning laws in California in the 1960s.
