Foreign Torture Probe is a Threat to the US
NY Post ^ | 05/11/09 | John Bolton

Posted on 05/11/2009 8:50:47 PM PDT by Eva

PRESIDENT Obama's passivity before the threatened foreign prosecution of Bush administration officials achieves by inaction what he fears doing directly.

This may be smart politics in the Democratic Party, but it risks grave long-term damage to America. Ironically, it could also come back to bite future Obama administration alumni, including the president, for their current policies in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

I think I’m finished posting articles. No one reads them and it’s way too much work if no one cares.

Wow. Obama really stepped in this one over a cheap political partisan attack on Bush. I hope the Spanish judge goes after Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid for their complicity.

The only way they could include Pelosi and Reid is if someone from the Bush administration actually agrees to testify. No one would want to dignify the investigation by participating.

Well, he does have the news stories about both of them being briefed and signing off on it. It would be funny if someone would warn her to stay out of Spain for while!

“This may be smart politics in the Democratic Party...”

Umm, no.
Quite frankly, it has backfired and continued pursuance of the issue will produce further backfiring. The Democratic Party does not want to go there. Before all is said and done, Rove and Cheney will have the Democrats looking as worse as those they are trying to persecute. The intelligence and military ramifications will have a castrating effect on not only this country, but on the Obama Administration.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto were in the wild west. Suddenly, there were Indians on the hills above them. There were Indians in the valley below them. Theire were Indians to the left of them, the right of them......they were completely surrounded.

The Lone RAnger looked at Tonto and said, “Well, Tonto, my friend. This looks like the end of us.”

Tonto looked at the Lone Ranger and said, “What do you mean ‘Us’, White Man?”

I think that what Bolton meant about it being smart politics in the Democrat Party is that they were appeasing the vilest demands of the far left by allowing the investigations to be conducted by a foreign country, and they are keeping the hate against Bush ramped up.

I am so glad you posted this article. I was just trying to catch up on the news tonight and appreciated it.

Good to read that we still have some folks on our side with the fight still left in them. I wish more conservative ‘leaders’ had a backbone like Bolton and Cheney.

Are you saying that Obama is letting this continue because he feels more in line with the Spainish judge, than the US constitution?

I swear that I thought that this investigation was ended. I cannot believe that no one in the press has brought this up, but Bolton.

Here is a thought: Perhaps we can take Obama’s eligibility to hold the office of the president to a foriegn court as well.

(grin)

Obama is not going to turn over patriotic Americans who did their best to protect us to foreign kangaroo courts. He would probably LIKE to do so—he clearly has little regard for our country or its sovereignty. But he knows it would be an abuse too far. Why risk open civil conflict when his plan to slowly destroy our economy and shred our social fabric proceeds apace? There will be time for show trials later, when his legions of brownshirted lumpen “volunteer organizers” have been organized and unified. It's too early for a showdown just yet.

Obama has made it clear he stands apart from the practices of this country and wishes to kiss the hands of other world leaders. He would do the same when it comes to a world court and without worry because he is establishing himself as "one of them".
