Social Security representatives said there is a good explanation. Of the about 52 million checks that have been mailed out, about 10,000 of those have been sent to people who are deceased.
The agency blames the error on the strict mid-June deadline of mailing out all of the checks, which didn't leave officials much time to clean up all of their records.
And we wonder why the liberals think more government is better. I guess that I have to agree that no one can spend MY MONEY with less concern or intelligence than the GOVERNMENT!

Stimulating a dead woman is against the law in some places.

I’m sure some (many?) of these checks will be cashed and the feds will be none the wiser.

PS: What really should be notable here is this;
This PROVES that even after 40 years, the Social Security Database still has at least one dead person on it! When do they propose to actually do their JOB?! Inquiring minds want to KNOW! Bureaucracy at its finest!

These are the folks who will be running our health care system.

Think how many of these checks actually went out to people who are dead—but someone else is collecting in their name—this was just a payoff to some of Obi’s friends.

Social Security has always had the "dead guy" problem. Back before direct deposit all the payments went out by check. However, before they could enter the mail Social Security employees working at the Treasury Department check centers would go through the trays of mail pulling checks for people they knew had died since the checks had been printed just moments before.
Still, before those checks could get delivered yet other recpients would die.
With direct deposit there's less of a problem but the government frequently has to go to the heirs to "collect".
Payments to dead people will be recovered.

No surprise here...
Millions of dead head welfare leaches and broodmares have been getting federal checks for decades.....
It is not unusual for the dead heads to recieve these checks over several generations as their only form of income.

Hmmm. 40 years ‘eh? Let’s see; that would mean she voted (at least once) for McGovern, Carter, Dukakis, Mondale, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and “Uh”bama. Did I leave anyone out?

Are you stupid. The $250 is needed to pay the acorn worker that has to include this dead citizen in the census in 2010 and include this important person in the voter roles. Wake up, this is change, change voted for last year.

I want to know how many elections she voted in since she has passed? If she was getting SS benies and who got them.

I think that’s a metaphor for the whole stimulus and bailout program.
We’ve been giving billions of dollars to dead companies for months now.
