Notre Dame Students Organize Anti-Commencement Demonstrations (estimate pushed up to 20,000!)

Almost two months after the announcement of President Barack Obama's commencement schedule, Notre Dame's campus will be flooded with visitors, graduates and Secret Service agents and South Bend's streets will be lined with protesters Sunday when Obama visits campus.

Hundreds of protesters plan to stand or walk along Angela Blvd. and Indiana 933 Sunday; busloads of protestors are expected to arrive in South Bend - at least three buses are expected from Chicago - to join those who have already descended on South Bend.

Anti-abortion activists Randall Terry and Alan Keyes have led dozens of protesters on to campus the past few weeks...over 20 of these protesters have been arrested for trespass on University property.

As local police are coordinating with Secret Service to prepare for the president's visit, those living around campus are preparing for an estimated 20,000 protesters to come to their neighborhood.

The Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society are joining in protest Sunday, according to the Web site notredameprotest.com; their day's activities will include two parts: walking in the neighborhood leading up to the ceremony and joining the scheduled prayer services on campus during Commencement...and acting in solidarity with ND Response on Sunday.

Captain Phil Trent of the South Bend Police Department (SBPD) said he knows that at least one group has filed for a permit for a protest walk, and that the city approved that request.

"If everybody does this peacefully, then it will be just a day of complete standing, monitoring the situation," he said of police activity during Commencement. "We're there just as much to protect everyone's 1st Amendment rights just as much as everyone's right to private property is enforced."

If there's any way you can goto Notre Dame, please get in a plane, car, or bus, and go.

Helpful note: the "main" demonstrations, sponsored by the prolife Notre Dame Students, themselves, will be peaceful, prayerful, approved by a University permit, and lawful. See their website for a schedule of "permitted" prayer vigils and rallies.

On the other hand, the protests "at the gates," sponsored by Randall Terry and Alan Keyes, will ALSO be peaceful and prayerful, but -- because they do not have a University permit --- they carry an arrest risk. The charge in every case has been trespassing: a "summary offense" (like a ticket) or a misdemeanor, not a felony, the typical civil rights-free speech type action. These Taxpayer funded appearances by “The One” are just more of the perpetual campaign this power grabber will engage in over and over again. His co-conspirators in the Media will turn any protests to his advantage just like they tried to do with the Tea Parties. They will turn him into an innocent victim at the least.

Massive Protests Planned for This Weekend

Columbus, OH – May 14, 2009 – Today the Center for Bio Ethical Reform begins its 18th day of operations of the Obama Awareness Campaign in South Bend, IN. For almost three full weeks CBR has been making abortion real to students, faculty, and trustees. CBR’s tow banner airplane and billboard trucks have reshaped the debate over the invitation of President Obama in South Bend and a! cross America. Everywhere residents turn, abortion is now the talk of the town.

Notre Dame Commencement Protest

This weekend, CBR’s abortion planes, billboard trucks, and handheld signs will combine with the Pro-Life Action League and other groups for a massive protest along Angela Boulevard and near the main gate of the University of Notre Dame.

Our abortion planes are a psychological warfare tactic. The students and residents are complaining in large numbers that just hearing the plane’s engine bothers them now.

Planes fly over Notre Dame all the time and they have never before bothered students and faculty. They fear that it is not just some plane, but THE ABORTION PLANE.

Now, the sound of the engine forces them to see an aborted baby in their minds eye and it deeply stresses them. This is the first pro-life project from which they cannot totally shield themselves. It reaches them wherever they try to hide.

Columbus, OH – May 15, 2009 – Sunday marks the Center for Bio Ethical Reform’s (CBR) final outreach to the University of Notre Dame (UND) in response to the scandal of President Obama delivering the commencement speech and receiving an honorary degree of laws from Notre Dame. People that can support the rallies at ND need to reframe the debate with the media. Obviously there are a lot of liberals out there that do not support "torture." If a person is asked by the media a question they only need to state one clear message. I am here because "OBAMA SUPPORTS TORTURE" of pre-born children. I want it to end. If anyone can not say that with conviction they only have to look up what a "Partial Birth Abortion" is. Obama supports PBA. Obama is in the category of the most vile supporters of "abortion rights."
