The author has some good points. but he overlooks the fact that the US has lots of oil that we can drill for and in addition to oil we have coal which is a good energy source.
What happens when we can’t get parts for foreign machines - we make our own. Just like we used to. Americans were handy and still are.
Hopefully, we will have enough sense to band together as we did in the frontier days and keep the wheels turning.
That would be my hubby’s forte. The chorus of “Daddy,Fix it!” around my house the last 20 years (I have 3 quite animated boys) has been chanted hundreds of times with only a few items not able to be repaired. He fixed everything from video game controllers to lawnmowers and everything in between. We rarely need to buy new, we just give it to Daddy :)
But in an economic collapse who is going to drill it without financing and who is going distribute it and who is going to buy it?
