Just a point of order:
“Mafia attorney Tom Hagen gave to the imprisoned and about-to-testify-before-Congress Frankie Pentangeli in “Godfather Two” either commit suicide or we’re going to kill you. Examples abound”.
Wrong! Frankie Pantageli had already testified and threw it their way. Tom’s visit was to suggest to Frankie that, despite his previous near ‘betrayal’, his family would be taken care of if he did the honorable thing (i.e., commit suicide). Mike couldn’t allow a personal enemy to remain unpunished, even though Mike knew that Frankie had been set up.
The rest of the article gets pinged for later.
Correct. Coppola is a bit of a lib and need conservative and NRA board member John Milus to balance Apocolypse Now and I do not like Mafia glorification but The GodFather was very well done.
I think the Frank Pentangeli character wa one of the best. You really feel for poor Frankie after he pleads with Michael about the stinking Rosato brothers and Hyman Roth. Great acting by the fellow playing Frank.
Pacino can be accused of overacting but his very memorable characters in Godfather, Scarface, Carlito’s Way are hard to forget.
