A socialist-oriented "media reform" group with ties to the Obama Administration is calling for new federal programs and the spending of tens of billions of dollars to keep journalists employed at liberal media outlets and to put them to work in new "public media."
The group, which calls itself Free Press, is urging "an alternative media infrastructure, one that is insulated from the commercial pressures that brought us to our current crisis."
However, Free Press didn't say one word about the well-documented liberal bias that has contributed to the decline in readers and viewers for traditional media outlets and has enabled the rise of the Fox News Channel, conservative talk radio, and the Internet. Instead, Josh Silver of the Free Press attacked the "bellowing ideologues" on the air and declared that "The entire dial is empty of local news in many communities."
This was a tip-off that, in order to take conservative radio hosts off the air, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be flooded with complaints that "local news" has been shortchanged by stations airing conservative personalities with national programs such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Michael Savage.

'1984' has gone from a fictional novel to a training manual.
The media must be totally controlled in a totalitarian state.
Not from their point of view. As to their point of view it is dark and stinks.
AND
"Free Press"
don't go together.
Sometimes, to make the cockroaches scatter you have to shine a bright light on them. Now is one of those times. It is time to confront them and defeat them on every issue.
Isn’t G.E./NBC already STATE-TV?
Obama Free Press to promote Obama Free Health Care and other Obama Socialist Programs.
c’mon, you always knew that the average member of the MSM longed for the day when he or she could be “insulated from market forces...”
It was once every month or so, then it was every week or so, then every few days, then once a day, now.... several times a day.. almost by the hour, the news of the demise of America is closer and becoming reality.
They are not just screwing around, they are going at it 24/7 to force us to either accept the loss of our country........ or do what Americans never wanted to happen. Well, it sure feels that way to me.
The list, ping
As another FReeper once said Orwell was suppose to be a cautionary tale, not a blueprint.
You’ll still be free to say anything the government approves of. :)
You gotta hand it to Obama- he is going full-tilt boogie to all-out socialism.
Even Bill Clinton did not try to make this many power plays in such a short time. (but you know he wanted to)
Always a prerequisite. I figured they'd first come for the guns, then take over all media.
ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is wrong!
But, this being an English nation, his name will be Bob Glees (an anagram for Goebbels).
What really gets me is that NONE of the liberal programs have truthful names - Free Press wants government control of the press, Employee Free Choice Act wants to do away with secret ballots, etc., etc.
If the media is actually interested in saving any hopes for this country, the FIRST item for business and reporting is Obama's Constitutional eligibility to be POTUS. The man has spent in excess of 800K to keep the COLB(Certificate of Living Birth) out of the public eye.
Until this most important issue is verified, all hope is lost and change is what we will get and it AIN'T CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.
It has been like a threat has been sent out quietly to silent our once great talkers in this country. I personally think they are afraid that Obama will reduce them down from being 'elites' in the income figures that get at this time to living in the unemployment lines.
People think American Idol and Dancing with the stars is much much more important than boring old politics.
Where is the outrage from the ones who live paycheck to paycheck with all Obama's price increases..oh yeah they'll be in touch with us this summer, right? /rant off
