FL 2010: [RINO] Charlie Crist defends stimulus-bill support [would have voted for Porkulus]

Now a U.S. Senate candidate, Crist calls backing 'pragmatic.'

BY LUDMILLA LELIS

DAYTONA BEACH - Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, now a U.S. Senate candidate, said he would have made the "pragmatic" decision to vote for the federal stimulus bill, differentiating himself from fellow candidate Marco Rubio and the man he is trying to replace -- Mel Martinez.

Speaking to a politically mixed crowd in Daytona Beach, Crist emphasized his support for the bill as practical and pragmatic, though it would have meant crossing Republican party lines. Only three Republican Senators backed the stimulus bill, and Martinez wasn't one of them.

Now Florida stands to get about $15 billion through different stimulus grants.

"A lot of that $15 billion dollars you sent to Washington, D.C., and my view is we ought to get it back. Florida deserves her fair share."

You know, I get so sick of that argument. All of my local politicians have used that saw, “...it’s our money, we ought to get it back.”

IF IT’S OURS—THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!

(Okay, breathing normally again...)

And that is why you will NEVER EVER get my vote again, Crist.

You are worse than a Communist Democrat, because at least a Communist Democrat TELLS YOU HE IS GOING TO ROB YOU.

You, Crist, are a pathetic suntanned chameleon. You change and shift with the winds.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways~St. James.

We’ll I hate to say this but the states that have state income taxes are better prepared to leave the union. They already have a taxing system in place to collect their own resident’s income tax and shut off the pipe to Washington.

Florida has no income tax and as much as that is great, the lack of a Florida income collection system may delay our departure if many others states are successful.

Too bad that Crist has never heard of federalism. They wouldn't need to send Washington $15 billion if states were responsible for doing the things they're supposed to be doing under the 10th amendment.

Crist is both a pretend man and a pretend Republican.

Florida has sales and property taxes though just like every other state. Not having an income tax is irrelevant; in fact that actually helps FL if if leaves the Union as more people will relocate there. Lots of pro athletes list FL as their residence because of the no income tax.

Here in Texas we have no state income tax but the
people from up north want one so they can turn the
state they moved to into what they left.

Forever tie the majority of Crist’s politics to those of Obama and of the leftist Congress, and Crist’s poll numbers will successfully fall. Hit Crist hard and often on all of his “leftist tendencies”, and enough Florida GOP voters will really decide not to vote for him.

The stimulus was nothing but a payoff for cooperation from invertebrate state politicians. The trade off is that the federal government/0 will be able to control the states with the purse strings. Forget federalism and the Republic. Politicians like Crist are going to help 0 destroy what our founders have given us.

“Lots of pro athletes list FL as their residence because of the no income tax.”

Very similar to what the state of NY does to Rush, many people don’t know what happens to pro-athletes.

Seemingly every state and municipality that athletes play in requires a separate tax return from the players. Gotta be like 30 states and the bigger cities than have their own tax. An accountant nightmare I would expect. Probably cost the players 5 to 10 grand to get their yearly taxes done.
