Republican Staff Choice Shows GOP Isn't Ready to Move Forward on Gay Marriage
US News & World Report ^ | 5/20/09 | Bonnie Erbe

If you were trying to find a staff lawyer in Washington, D.C. who could automatically turn off party moderates and push the GOP further into its social issues cave, you'd have to look long and hard. Not Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-al.) though. He found one in record time after taking over the ranking Republican seat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. From the Legal Times:

The new chief Republican counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote a blog post last month in which he linked same-sex marriage to pedophilia, according to a Web site that has since been taken down.

The post by William Smith responded to a recent speech by Steve Schmidt, a Republican campaign consultant who advised Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign. Speaking in Washington to the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay rights group, Schmidt had urged Republicans to support same-sex marriage.

Race-baiting. Sexism, racism, and gayism (anti-gay prejudice) are the party's father's Chevrolet, not today's hybrid. Steve Schmidt was brave to try to move the party forward on the issue of gay marriage—but not this party. It's simply not ready.

equality is reserved for traits people have no control over
such as their race or their gender.

there is no equality on the basis of behavior which is what this is. they can quietly shack up or not as they choose.

just don’t call it marriage. it insults my intelligence and
make me very angry.

Gee, Bonnie. I’m surprised they didn’t consult you about this!

“I note NONE of the media seem to be taking zer0 to task over that”

Scott, that’s because they know he’s lying.

So, you have no problem with "No Joooos need apply" signs, then?

They source a website that has since been taken down? What?

I personally would have a Big Problem with them. However
religion is a behavior. I wouldn’t want to protect
Santeria goat slayers or witches or the rights of Muslims
to force a neighborhood to cater to their desires and listen
to the muezzin at all hours.

BTW I’ve always heard that membership in The Tribe is conferred by birth.

Who needs to go back into their cave?

See homosexual “marriage” convention above.

Yeah and we’ll stay opposed to perversion. Call it a cave but we’ll call it appropriate sexual boundaries that have been violated with impunity and attempted to have been normalized.

Guess what? I heard a medical doctor in the military state it put it succinctly and nonjudgmentally: The human excretory system was not designed for that kind of activity. Period. No amount of moral indignation or social pressure can surmount that biological fact.

And there it is.
