I like him, too, but why did he resign from Congress? Is there something that the ‘Rats can use against him? I vaguely remember reading that he was a good buddy of Gary Condit, and that there was a lot of carousing around.
It was my understanding that he made a campaign promise not to make a career as being a congressman. I think he just kept his promise and did not run for additional terms. He’s an honest guy.
He got married and shortly thereafter, he and his wife had twins.
I’ve always liked him. As far as I know, he has a business/economics background than law. We need a LOT more business people in D.C. and a LOT less lawyers (no offense to Freeper lawyers).
I thought that was Joe Scarborough.
I think he wasn’t married the entire time he was in Congress. He and his wife had twins and he didn’t run again...probably to make more $$$$.
He didn't resign. His term expired and he didn't run for re-election. This was after his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000, and he'd been in office since 1982. So he went and worked private sector for a while, did his gigs on Fox News, and left his seat to his protege Pat Tiberi.
You're thinking of Joe Scarborough, who "coincidentally" also had a affair with a soon-to-be-dead intern problem, although his dead intern was found IN HIS FL OFFICE!
Kasich said he resigned because the Contract for America called for term limits and he wanted to walk the walk. Good man.
