BEIJING Chen Fuchao, a man heavily in debt, had been contemplating suicide on a bridge in southern China for hours when a passer-by came up, shook his hand and pushed him off the ledge.
Chen fell 26 feet (8 meters) onto a partially inflated emergency air cushion laid out by authorities and survived, suffering spine and elbow injuries, the official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.
The passer-by, 66-year-old Lai Jiansheng, had been fed up with what he called Chen's "selfish activity," Xinhua said. Traffic around the Haizhu bridge in the city of Guangzhou had been backed up for five hours and police had cordoned off the area.
"I pushed him off because jumpers like Chen are very selfish. Their action violates a lot of public interest," Lai was quoted as saying by Xinhua. "They do not really dare to kill themselves. Instead, they just want to raise the relevant government authorities' attention to their appeals."

Very selfish of him.
He couldn’t change the channel...
“They do not really dare to kill themselves. Instead, they just want to raise the relevant government authorities’ attention to their appeals.”

Cold-hearted Commie.
He didn't die, just got severely banged up. Anyone who holds up traffic in an area for hours threatening to jump 26 feet 'to their death' deserves as much.
Part of me really can’t blame the pusher. The jumper was simply looking for attention... if he wanted to commit suicide he’d have jumped on his own. It isn’t right that others be inconvenienced because one person wants attention from others.
See post six. He didn’t die, he just fell two stories onto an air mattress.
Typical peace and love altruist.
Driving into Chicago one day we ran across a mammoth jam on the expressway. Turns out some woman pulled her car into the center median and called 911 and threatened to shot herself. Shut down traffic in BOTH directions for 8 hours. 3 hours later traffic was still a mess. People trapped in the traffic called local radio stations with one or two commenting “ Give me a rifle and I’ll shot the B#tch”....

Yeah, how dare this guy want to get the attention of public officials. Officials who probably won’t give them the time of day and can’t be bothered with citizen’s ‘petty’ concerns. Nice job, comrade Lai.
Sounds like he needs a bailout...an Obamabillion at least
I didn’t mean to pile on...I hadn’t seen the other posts yet....
I would imagine the commie police appreciated the help.
Even though the jumper guy didn't die?
Wow. That's harsh.
This type of situation is played out here in California (Silicon Valley). The jumper will tie up the freeways for hours because CHP has closed them while the negotiation team tries to dissuade the jumper from committing the act of suicide.
